Man, you guys make it sound like making varsity sports is easy. Not at our school. I would make varsity basketball as a freshman or sophomore at many other schools but it is not going to be easy to make varsity basketball at my school. It has to do a lot with our school being in the WCAL which is considered to the toughest athletic league in the state of California. There is also politics involced with the sports at our school as well. I am also going to go out for varsity volleyball or track/field as well. I did varsity x-country as a freshman and was fast but it was just not my thing.

I was on Varsity Soccor in High school. I hated it though and left my team in the beginning of the season. It just wasn't my thing at the time.

Man, you guys make it sound like making varsity sports is easy. making a varsity team is the hardest at my school! Our volleyball team won states last year, and my coach wants to repeat... I've decided even if I make varsity volleyball, I'm not gonna play on it... I'll never play cause I'm only gonna be a sophomore but I'll be a starter on JV

Man, you guys make it sound like making varsity sports is easy. I was on varsity tennis. Ya gotta remember that every district has weak teams with varsity programs as well. Being on varsity doesn't necessarily make you good, just that you have to compete at a higher level. The one thing I ALWAYS find silly is when varsity player believe they "rule" the school but in the large scope of things are small fries when compared nation or even state wide competitions.

Well, I did forget that. My school is in the WCAL. It is the toughest league in the state of California with a few teams ranked in the state. Most teams in the league domintae opponents in non-league games. The other sports at our school are also hard to make as well sometimes. Our soccer team was ranked #1 in the nation the year before and is still in the top rankings for the nation. We also have other sports where it is easier to make varsity like x-country, lacrosse, swimming, water polo, football and track/field.

I'm on the varsity team in track and cross-country. It's not a hard thing to do seeing as there are like 350 people in my school. That's not saying sucky people get on the teams though I made it to regionals in both sports. I was pretty close in cross-country to going to state.

Maybe in a 3-mile course? Or a 5,000 meter run? Regionals sounds pretty good. We have league, then CCS, Norcal (for California) and then state.

hmm I'm third on my team and I think my 3 mile time was the 19:30-20:10...not great but ok considering the heat...and hills...and everything else that makes me wonder why I run. I'm pretty sucky at track, it was my 4x800 team that made it out.

I ran the 5,000 meter once as a freshmen at a meet at Stanford. Not bad. I got 20:12.

^^dang thats pretty good. Did you only run as a freshmen or do you still do it now? Only as a freshman. I am too lazy to run x-country. I was fast in the 800 meters though in 8th grade. 2:24 was my time for CCS which is after league. My focus for sports is on basketball which is my favorite sport.

I played varsity basketball for my school, we only lost a game to the best team in our league at a tournament by 1 foul shot....
