I agree with you on this one admirality, I don't care for their newer stuff either, but I'm an old fart, so that makes me partial to what I listened to when I was a teenager.

Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets and Anesthesia are the only ones I care for. are the only ones I really care for. Did you know Anesthesia is the bass solo that James and Lars heared when they went to some club, and that is how Cliff Burton got in the band

I loved The Black Album. =)
I used to listen to it from beginning to end all the time. It's not quite as raw as their earlier tunes (which I desire from time to time), but if you want to hear a more "finished" sound, then it's great. ^_^

Hey look what I found,
"Ulrich recently spoke with Revolver magazine about the band's upcoming LP, which will be its first all-new effort since 2003's "St. Anger". Ulrich told the magazine that the group's new material "is certainly a lot more dynamic and a lot more varied than the last couple of go-rounds," adding, "There's a lot of light and shade in these songs. There's heavy, fast, nutty stuff, and then there's some slowdowns and musical interludes. Ulrich also said that the album has more in common with some of the group's '80s releases than more recent offerings like "St. Anger" and "Load".
Ulrich wouldn't agree that the yet-to-be-titled disc is a full-blown return to the past, saying, "I hate to be that specific, because six months from now people are gonna go, 'What the F***? Lars lied to us! ' But it feels that way to me."
The drummer also revealed that producer Rick Rubin, working with the band for the first time, wanted Metallica to use classic efforts like "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" as "reference points" for its new songs."
Maybe there new album will be cool like the older stuff!

Thread revived.
I do hereby state that half of Kill 'Em All involves no actual musical talent, which is my main beef with death metal.
Stuff that does involve talent: Anesthesia, Seek and Destroy, Four Horsemen, and...something else...
RTL is a great album.
1. Creeping Death
2. Ride the Lightning
3. The Call of Ktulu
4. For Whom the Bell Tolls
5. Fade to Black
Master of Puppets
Best. Album. Ever.
AJFA
Still cool. Especially One.
TBA
Good.
Load.
Okay.
ReLoad
Eh.
St. Anger.
die.
Death Magnetic
Really good, on par with AJFA.
