If you haven't read the books yourself, you shouldn't be criticizing them.
This isn't even close to Star Wars. Yeah, futuristic aliens and medieval dragons are exactly like. Sure, whatever you say. If anything, it's closer to The Lord of the Rings.
If you're just going to trash other people's interests, just don't post in that topic and keep your opinions to yourself. It's mean, and there's no point to it.
Well, duh, there aren't aliens in Eragon or dragons in Star Wars. I have read the first one so I'm allowed to judge. The story is like Star Wars, not the creatures and what not.Eragon took Star Wars and warped the time period to medievil times. The characters are all very similar to those in SW, as is the plot. Even if everything isn't the same, Eragon is pretty much the same. And how is LOTR like Eragon besides the time placement and magic?

Yeah, but even if it is like Star Wars, you liked Star Wars. So can you all admit that you did like the book. You may not want too, but I'm sure it must be a guilty pleasure of some of you.
I'm just surprised that no one esle here really likes it.

It's hard to like a book that copies from something else. You already know what's going to happen. XD
And Paolini really isn't the best writer, especially for being a genius.

I liked the Eragon series (not crazy about it, but I liked it), and I'm not a fan of Star Wars. This is probably because I don't like sci-fi.
However, I don't like how he changed it to a four book series. He should have kept it as a trilogy. D:

Yeah, he cheated. XD What was his reason for changing the length of the series?

I watched an interview and this is pretty much what he said about changing it: "I like reading long books. And I had so much to put into the last book of the trilogy. But I don't think it would have been a good thing to have a 1000+ page book, so I decided to change the trilogy into a cycle. It would give me more room to describe and set the scenes better than trying to fit them all into one book." That is more or less what he said about the subject.

So in other words he has failed to evolve as a writer, and still strives for a style he's not capable of executing properly?

Lolz, Kaneda. Lay off the guy. We all know he's not a good writer.
This is kinda like a video game from a series I like; I know it'll be bad, but I buy it and go through it anyways.

Eragon is Star Wars with LotR characters.
Except it manages to fail epically.

Don't be surprised if Poalini decides to rip Lucas off even further and make a (far more suckish) prequel trilogy.

I wouldn't put it past him to make a "what happened before all this stuff" series. Although, without the dragons, it wouldn't be very appealing.

Uggghhhhh, the UPS didn't deliver mine today. I am very mad! Now I have to wait until Monday to get it. At work, I already checked out 4 copies of the books; I was very envious!
