I am reading this book that my friend bought me for X-mas its called "Playing With Boys". Its about three women, living in L.A., Ones a band manager, ones a former latino actress, looking for parts in Hollywood, one is a mother & hoping to write a movie, her husband is friends with the band manager. The story is pretty much about how these 3 meet, come togather, become friends, and achieve their dreams ^^ I am only about 2 or 3 chapters into, it is ver good, but I would rate it PG-16 for some elements, thigns discussed/mentioned, and defiantly language.

I just finished Memoirs of a Geisha. Now I don't know what I'll read next. Time to go look through the bookshelf again!

I'm reading Castle Roogna by Piers Anthony. Its a comedy fantasy but I found his first two books more unpredictable. I think that I figured out the entire plot line and I'm only on page 133. I just finished reading Moreta by Anne McCaffrey which I don't recommend. The plot is slow and the ending is depressing and slightly pointless. Her other books are better.

I usually read about 5 books at a time, but right now I think I'm at 10....yikes. I just keep buying more and more....curse Borders for hiring me! I'm over exposed to literature.
Anyway, titles I'm reading:
Be With You by Takuji Ichikawa- This is a story about a mans wife who returns from the dead. I've only read the first chapters, but it seems like a really intersting story.
Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards- Amazing story about a man who gives up his daughter because when she is born, he notices that she has down syndrome and doesn't want to deal with that. He asks the nurse who was assisting him with the delivery to take the girl to a local orphange and then he tells his wife (who was basically passed out during labor) that they had twins, but one died. Anyway, the nurse takes the girl to the orphange but she doesn't like the conditions, and being an older single woman, decides to raise the child as her own. I'm only about halfway through this one, but it's such a good story.
Mysterious Skin by Scott Heim- This book is mainly about two boys and their lives. It starts out when their young, one boy is a little bit of a troublemaker who is molested by a baseball coach at a young age, and the other is a Sci-fi nut who had the classic deadbeat angry father. I really like it, but there are some pretty um...intense...scenes. Also, this is technically a gay fiction book, so if that kind of thing bothers you, skip this title.
Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman- I don't really even know how to describe this book. It's a pop culture book. I suppose it's one of those books that you'll either love or hate. Klosterman has some really funny points to make. And if you like the movie "Say Anything" you'll love the first chapter of this book. Or I did at least.
The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore- I'll just type the description that made me read this book, and you guys can go on from there "'Twas the night (okay, more like the week) before Christmas, and all through the tiny community of Pine Cove, California, people are busy buying, wrapping, packing, and generally getting into the holiday spirit.
But not everybody is feeling the joy. Little Joshua Barker is in desperate need of a holiday miracle. No, he's not on his deathbed; no, his dog hasn't run away from home. But Josh is sure that he saw Santa take a shovel to the head, and now the seven-year-old has only one prayer: Please, Santa, come back from the dead."
A Place so Foreign and 8 more by Corey Doctorow- I heard about Doctorow from Wil Wheaton and thought I'd check his books out. Well, a year later I finally did and I must say I'm glad. The first line of the first story is "Craphound had wicked yardsale karma, for a rotten, filthy alien bastard." I've only read the first story, but it was good stuff.
Books I've recently finished-
Cathy's Book- I really thought this book was going to be more fun. There are actual phone numbers that you can call, websites you can go to, and a slew of other interactive things that are pretty cool. But I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Maybe it was beacuse I was reading it at 4 am all the time and was way too tired to pick up any of the clues/hints. But it was still pretty fun to "call" the characters from the book and hack into their voice mail.
The Devil's Arithmatic by Jane Yolen- Classic story that I sould have read a long time ago. It's about a girl who is with her family celebrating Passover. She's having no fun and would rather be with her Catholic friends eating chocolate easter bunnies. Inexplicably she gets thrown back in time to Nazi Germany, and is put in one of the camps. Really good stuff, but I'm a sucker for any good Holocaust stories.
The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories by Tim Burton- Like Nightmare Before Christmas? Like Tim Burton? Like sarcasm? You will love this book. Promise.
This list doesn't even include all the manga I read. Me= total book lover girl. Oh well, I suppose there are worse things then reading too much...

I'm not the only one who reads Xanth... He kinda mellows out with his later books in the Xanth series...lots more puns. I'm re-reading The Quicksilver Pool- by Phyllis Whitney... she's a great suspence writer <3

Yeah, that was a boring and pointless book. It's only purpose was to show where Moreta comes in in the lore of Pern in the other books, which could've been done much more brief or with a more interesting plot.

The Chronicles of the Zodiak by me.
Actually I'm writing it and re-reading it. I haven't even gotten out of the first chapter yet. I stink at summaries so it would be pointless to try to give a description of it. Maybe when I'm done with more I'll post it here on DH....

I found it a big disappointment after reading The White Dragon. Even The Ship Who Sang was better than it, and that was a weird book. To keep on topic, I finished Castle Roogna (better ending than I anticipated) and now I'm reading Voyage of Slaves by Brian Jacques.

I am having a read thought "The Demon Hunters Handbook" at the moment. It is done by the same people who did the Dragonology, Egyptology and Pirateology books, it has been done as if the demon hunter Abelard Van Helsing has written it himself. It is like a guide for his apprentice, like some of the demons you can come across, how to killing them, different weapons and even some of his life story. The art is really amazing, the detail in it is just mind blowing, they have made the demons look very real, which is something I like been into demonic stuff. The other thing I will say about this book, do not give it to a kid to look at, it will give them nightmares for years...lol.
