NOTE: Please forgive me if it seems like I'm bashing.
I enjoy Majora's Mask (not as much as Ocarina of Time) and like every game, it has its ups and downs.
Ups: The fact that Link has three days to save Termina. Call me crazy but I thought it added suspense, especially in the scene where Link gets the Ocarina back. The moon is about to fall and Tatl is panicking that they need more time...really suspenseful, if you ask me. The masks were very enjoyable and I liked the side quest with the Stock Pot Inn. I also loved swimming as a Zora. It was also pretty sweet that you could save your process a different way than in other games.
Downs: Every single character in Majora's Mask that was also in Ocarina of Time was OOC. I know Termina is another universe of Hyrule and some character had excuses for the way they behaved (i.e. Skull Kid) but it all comes down that the characters were OOC. Whatever happened to the lady who lived in Kakariko Village and took care of Cuccos? And what was up with the Running Man? First he runs all over then he's a post man? And don't even get me started on Koume and Kotake. Another downside was I thought it was kind of short and the enemies were pretty easy, unless you count those giant, stinging flys in the Deku Swamp.
What are your views on Majora's Mask?

I like Ocarina of Time more but Majora's mask is an incredible game. It is the 3 day system that makes it so good. With the time the npcs don't cater to you. It is like a living world with everyone having a schedule and different things. The NPCs in MM are NOT the Ocarina of Time ones. Nintendo made is very clear when they released the game, they were like distant cousins. You got personal with all the NPCs you learned their problems and some were very sad.
The different masks also made it very cool.
However, OoT is the better game because it was just so epic. I got extremely attached to the stor, even more than MM. And I LOVE the MM story.

I thought OoT was more emotional than MM. I don't know why, maybe because I always cry at the end of OoT, but MM I never have. I also cry at other times during OoT, not just the end. I guess I just like the plot and everything better.

For me with MM, I have mixed views.
Likes: The challenge of three days. The cameo of the SMB. Playing the ocarina. Chickens. Gotta love those chickens. The puzzles. The anticipation feeling of questioning what's going to happen if you stop the moon from falling. The Happy Mask salesman. ;D
Dislikes: Having to start all over from the beginning of Day One. I can see why this part turns some people off. It is a bit frustrating when you've gotten a lot of stuff and you lose it within a short period of time.
Overall: Not bad of a game. I'm not done with it since KH2 caught my attention more than MM at that time. I'll probably get back to it sometime when I have the confidence of getting to the second dungeon within three days. I haven't played OoT so I can't compare the two. I have played/own ALttP and LA. I understand that OoT has similarities to ALttP. MM is not my favorite Zelda game but it's not the worst one either. It's very unique. *nods nods* ^_^ My top fav. Zelda game spot will go to ALttP!

MM is a very emotional game, just do the Ranch quest, or the wedding quest.

I love the wedding quest but I can't seem to get past the part where you get the Postman Hat. What's up with that?

The reason I think alot of people don't like Majora's Mask is because it wasn't Ocarina of Time. It didn't live up to the epic feel of OoT and others saw it as more of a side quest-type game. On the other hand, some people loved it because it wasn't OoT.
Both had their pros and cons. With OoT, pro was the story and con is the item set which is inferior to MM's. And it's the opposite with MM, pro is item set (The best ones were definitely the Fierce Deity Mask and the Great Fairy Sword) and con is the story, but people argue them for both.

I love the wedding quest but I can't seem to get past the part where you get the Postman Hat. What's up with that? You are not supposed to get the Postman's hat if you want to complete the wedding. The one quest branches of to two and the hat is one of them. Do the other.

I actually found the Majora's Mask storyline to be more immersive. You weren't just saving Princess Zelda or a kingdom from some far-off future threat; the moon was crashing down right now, and you interacted with the villagers you had to save so very, very closely (especially if you did all the sidequests). I found the Zoras and Gorons especially heartwrenching, with the deep relationships between lovers and family, respectively.

I LOVE THE BUNNY MASK!!!! It was so helpful for a lot of things, it was my favorite. I thought this was a good game but I liked Ocarina of time a lot better

There's no way MM could have lived up to OoT. Ocarina of Time is the biggest selling game of all time. It was the biggest game ever created. The graphics were phenomenal at the time, the gamep-lay superb. Everyone I knew with an N64 (aside from me) got it within the first week it came out. It got rereleased for the Next-Gen (Although it was attached to a different game), and it wasn't a Final Fantasy game! In short, this was the biggest game to hit the shelves of all time. I'm not sure if Halo 2 surpassed it in sales, but it still was and is HUGE. It was one of the first games I downloaded for Project 64, too.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the original Mario Bros. was the best-selling game of all time.
