^ "Ponyo," "Kiki's Delivery Service," and "Howl's Moving Castle" were all Miyazaki adaptations. I can easily see him doing another, that is if he doesn't retire.

Eh, I think he's doing the best thing with an adaptation ~ taking it and making it an entirely new piece of art, his own. I'm still in so much awe of what he did with Howl's ~ he put his own twist on it, his own understanding of the original art form.

^ I love the fact that HMC/movie and HMC/book can be treated as separate and just as good as each other.
Same with Kiki's Delivery Service.
"Ponyo" is sort of an adaptation of goldfish princess stories, like a collaboration I think. I might be wrong though...
EDIT: Oh geez, I never capitalized my I's.

WAHOO!!! New Miyazaki film!
I thought he retired after Spirited Away. I'm so glad he didn't! It looks like it should be awesome!
Course I'll never get to see it in theaters...

^No I meant Ponyo. But I haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle yet. My parents aren't big on renting anime.

Excellent ~ hope you enjoyed it. Some movies get kind of old after a while, and you don't want to watch them anymore, but Miyazaki's are classics; they just keep getting better everytime you watch them. ^.^ ~ Some Q & A on Ponyo from www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/ponyo/"Q: What is the story? Only the barest of details are known. Ponyo is a goldfish princess who wishes to become human. Sosuke is a five year old boy who somehow becomes involved with Ponyo. A sense of closeness between a parent and child is a theme of the film. Q: Where does it take place? Tomo-no-Ura in Seto-naikai. Miyazaki spend a few months during 2005 in a rental house on a cliff after previously visiting the area during a company tour in 2004. He was inspired by the scenery to create the story for "Ponyo". ~ Oh boy ~ more scenery. ;D And you're right, apparently it will all be hand-inked. No computer animation.

^ Apparently. from Variety.com: " Instead of incorporating ever more CG cuts into 2-D animation, as Studio Ghibli has done in recent pics, Miyazaki intends to make "Ponyo" with a pastel watercolor, hand-painted look. Miyazaki will "go back to his origins and use not any CG," Studio Ghibli prexy Toshio Suzuki told reporters at Monday's press conference announcing the toon. "Instead he will use simple, childlike drawings. He intends to make something different from his previous films." full article: www.variety.com/article/VR1117961403.html?categoryid=13&cs=1
