Yeah there's a sequel to Howl's Moving Castle. Except that Howl and Sophie aren't portrayed as their usual selves. It's called Castle in the Air.

To explain would give too much away, but the books are definitely worth it.

I just saw Pom Poko. Its Takahata, not Miyazaki, but its a great movie, even if a bit... odd.

I want to read the book now. When did the sequel come out? amazon links for the books: Howl's Moving CastleCastle in the AirHMC is really twisted (I mean the plot, not the attitude ), and you really see the movie differently after reading it. It gives a bit more background, and I actually found it hard to keep the plot straight in my mind. (Of course, this was probably due to me having the flu when I read it, so the 103 degree fever did not really help ~ y'all would probably have an easier time sorting the book out.) Still, that makes it good for re-reads, too. CitA is much more simple and straightforward, and I'll say it again ~ it's only a sequel to HMC in the way that The Horse and His Boy was a sequel to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. So if you're looking for the cast of HMC to show up just the same as you saw them last time, look again. Definitely worthwhile, though ~ Miyazaki has a real eye for stories, and he didn't go wrong with Dianna Wynne Jones. She's an excellent author, as is Ursula K. LeGuin, who writes the Earthsea series his son Goro adapted for Gedo Senki (which I still haven't seen). Miyazaki had been asking her for years if he could adapt some of her work.

It's a tie between Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

I loved Howl's Moving Castle! It made me cry! (I was sleep-deprived, and I'm always more emotional when that way...but still.)It was a great work of art.

Gowl's Moving Castle is awesome, katie. The dancing paper doll things kind of freaked me out. I must remember not to watch Miyazaki movies at one in the morning. It does somethingto my brain.
