Anyone read it? I just finished the manga, and I have to say, I was surprised. I really haven't found muh interest in the 'reality' based mangas, but this one put a twist on it, and then the pretty art and the characters just kept me coming back. Sai is so...odd...

I haven't gotten around to checking this anime/manga out. Wanna tell me what it's about?

It's centered around a game, sort of a complex mix between Othello and chess, called Go. This boy, Hikaru, who is set up as a typical (stereotypical) pre-/early-teen 'cool kid', is helping to go through his grandfather's attic, when he stumbles on an antigue Go board (goban). When he touches the board...something rather strange happens. And he wakes up the next day to find that he is officially haunted by a ghost named Sai, who was, in his prime, a professional Go player, during a past Era in Japan. It's got a lot of humor in it, but it also describes a world a lot like that of chess today. It manages to be very light and funny, especially in the beginning, but leaving the potential to be a serious and even, beleive it or not, intense story at times. The story is nice and all, but I found the art to be the best thing about it. It just gets prettier and more developed as the story progresses. That is what caught my eye as I scanned through in the first place, and it's a good part of what held me through to the end.

I love this anime/managa! Sai is funny, Akira is...odd...and Hikaru is awesome! But what really got me hooked was...uh, I forgot. But I'm reading it now.

I've been watching the anime on Jetstream, but I haven't read the manga. I have a question though... well, I have been making a gallery for the show for some time now, but I recently added images of one of the insei, whose name I never heard on the show, but researching online I found there's a character named Asumi, who I thought was the same one in the anime, so that's what I've called her in the gallery. However, in an episode I just watched today, she was talking with another girl, and they were going to go out for karaoke and bowling. And the girl I thought was Asumi said "Mind if I invite Asumi?" Which rather suggests she's not Asumi, after all... but I'm thinking maybe the writers just made a mistake? Maybe you could look at my gallery if you're familiar with the manga (and the show) and tell me if I'm wrong, and if you know what her actual name might be....

Hikaru no Go is something on my manga list. I plan to pick it up sometime.

Ah, just watched a new episode and realized one of the insei is named Isumi, so I suppose that must be the name I heard Asumi say before...

Fujiwara-no-Sai is pretty awesome, isn't he? He wears make-up! Yeah!
