^^Nope. According to all angry Matheson fans they say it's 'looks' different. Ha to heck with them, I really want to see it. That apple HD trailer is SICK. And the dog has a following now.

Too bad people in China won't be able to see it.
Banned from theaters along with other American movies.

China limits the number of Hollywood movies that enter the country during holidays.

Hmm.. that's too bad for the people in China, but I suppose it's kind of a solution to only get ratings for Chinese movies.... yeah. -__-" Anyways, back on topic. There's already a thread about this in the general board here ^_^ I've seen a trailer of "I Am Legend" and it seems very intriguiging. I really like to know what actually happened that made Will Smith the only person on Earth and who's wandering the ground with him.

I went to see "I Am Legend" last night, and it blew my mind. In addition to the ever-foxy Will Smith, the creatures were frightening, the action was exciting, the emotion was heart-rending and the ending made sob.

SEE IT. It's awesome! And after seeing Independance Day and I, Robot as well, I've come to the conclusion that should any unusual threat strike our planet, we send in Will Smith.

WARNING! The following review contains SPOILERS!
I have to say, this movie was one of the most disappointing of the year.
The first hour was great, you really get the feeling for Will Smith as "the last man on Earth", he is both hunter and the hunted. He's so isolated in such a large and famous city. The movie does an excellent job of setting up an atmosphere.
Then... the movie declines. It ruins its own atmosphere by adding additional characters that seem completely unnecessary. Smith's character's flashbacks become more annoying than enlightening, causing the current story to drag rather than explaining how these events came to be.
The dog's fate is irritating too, and seems to have been put in only for shock value rather than for any real emotional response. (Seriously, if he had handled helping the dog the way he tried helping some of the "monster people" or rats, that whole scene could have been avoided. You think he'd know better.)
The addition of a female character and her son/little brother/cousin/whatever miscellaneous family member, shatters the illusion of utter solitude. It makes you miss the dog all the more, really. At least the dog wasn't annoying and cramming bible verses down Smith's throat when he's busy trying to ward off a hoard of angry zombie-vampires.
And the feral zombie-vampire dogs... really. If this supposed virus made them so feral, they wouldn't be obeying the zombie-vampire humans! They'd just kill them too! That's why they're FERAL!
Back to the girl and the token cute child following her, how did she even get on Manhatten island? Ferries weren't taking anyone there. She couldn't have swam there. She had a car with her, how did she drive that on an island? Or off it for that matter?
And the movie's entire ending was just so contrite and unnecessary. Trying to make "fate" the deciding factor in the end to add a message to the movie, despite the fact that this theme hasn't been presented for the entirety of the movie, c'mon, really? If you're going to tack something on like that, at least make it more interesting.
Grenades don't explode like that either, Mr. Smith. I'll forgive you because you are a good actor, and a fine one at that, but really. Shame... on... you...!
In short, I'd say skip this movie until its on DVD unless you really just want to see a sensationalist film revolving around Smith running from zombie-vampires. But if you're the type of person who clings to their logic even when you're suspending your belief? Yeah, just don't bother. You'll just end up annoyed, especially because this could've been a good film.
I can't help but feel that the first half was written before the writers' strike, and the second half was scribbled out by an executive just to get the film finished.

I can't help but feel that the first half was written before the writers' strike, and the second half was scribbled out by an executive just to get the film finished. Very well said, even though I don't quite agree with all of your points. For all of its faults, I found "I Am Legend" to be a very good film, overall. In the way of bringing in additional characters, I think that, in most cases, they're necessary to push the story along. In this particular film, they make dialouge possible, and not much else. The boy serves no real purpose other than to tug at the heartstrings of both Will Smith's character and the audience, while the woman is really more of a conversation piece. I'm just thankful that she didn't become a love interest. The dog scene made me cry (several times in the space of about three minutes, acutally), but that's not much of a feat in and of itself. I was thinking the whole time, "Why aren't you using some of your magic antidote crap, Will Smith?! Why?!", but I just told myself that he was having a moment of stress and fear induced crazy and called it a day. Okay, feral vampire-dogs. I don't think that the dogs were nearly as feral as Will Smith's character thought that they were. If you were paying attention, you would've noticed how clever the creatures were, especially since they were crazy mutant vampire-zombies. Smith's character looked as though he were refusing to accept this fact, even when there was overwhelming evidence right in front of him (Frank, anyone?). As for the woman and boy getting to Manhatten . . . let's just remind ourselves that these people are living in a movie and leave it at that. The ending was . . . unsatisfying. That's about the best word for it, I think. In the way of grenades, they're still living in a movie, dontcha know. All in all, I suppose that we've just got to remember that this movie was (very, very loosely) based off of a novel by the same title. I haven't read the book myself, but a good friend of mine has and the two of us discussed it at length. I trust that the book made more sense. The only thing that the movie took from it (that I can discern, anyway) was the title, name of the lead character, presence of a dog, and vampire-zombies. That's it. That said, I still think that "I Am Legend" is a worthwhile cinematic experience. Will Smith is an extremely gifted actor, and, if nothing else, those lovely few seconds of shirtless pull-ups are well worth the admission price.

I think you both said what was truth. I agree, the ending did leave you with that "wow. That's all? kinda taste in your mouth and I will agree that the little boy and gal running through the middle of the movie made me eyeroll a bit. Wasn't the idea for him to be THE LAST MAN ON EARTH?!?
The dog dying made me sad, too.
Overall, an okay movie. I had pretty high expectations going into the theatre and in sences of action, plot, and development (most of the time) it lived up to those expectations. The ending made me cringe and so did the ever-present zombies. If you have some free time, go ahead and see the movie. It was fine.

Will Smith is an extremely gifted actor, and, if nothing else, those lovely few seconds of shirtless pull-ups are well worth the admission price. Cheers to that! The movie was great for thrills and a short adrenaline rush here and there, but plot-wise, as Pleading eyes and fierymetis have brilliantly pointed out, wasn't the best. If you're interested in seeing it, even if its just a little bit, I highly recommend going to see it– great cinematic experience.
