Tales of Ba Sing Se did almmost absolutly nothing for the plot at all. Unless Jin comes back to inflict some major character development on Zuko...

I don't think there were any episodes that were the least vital. The Great Divided showed Aang uniting enemies for the first time, Avatar Day gave more info on Kyoshi (wooh Kyoshi!), and the Tales of Ba Sing Se showed us that Appa is actually in the city (footprint.)
And besides, I really like the episodes where the Gaang is just having mini-adventures. ;D

The Swamp saw the return of the Blue Spirt.
Tales of Ba Sing Se show us that appa was already in BSS with the help of Appa's Lost Days
Every episode of season two had a purpose. Either shown or not.

Either shown or not Nicely said. Agreed. No matter how boring the episode is, there is a point hidden beneath the incredibly dull plotline.

ROFL.
I'm still contemplating the point of "The Great Divide". Care to shed some light on that?

ROFL. I'm still contemplating the point of "The Great Divide". Care to shed some light on that? That Aang needs to work on his problem solving skillz. Oh, and that you should actually listen to the tour guide next time you travel in a canyon with carnivorous creatures inhabiting it.

I'm with everyone else who says The Great Divide. I really don't like that episode at all. The only thing that I could see is if the Redemtion Ritual and the history of the feud they talked about became some part of the plot in Season 3 -- but I doubt it seriously.
Avatar Day was important for the Zuko/Iroh storyline. BTW I thought it was funny that Iroh minded Zuko stealing in that episode but didn't seem to mind stealing perfume from the abbey or food from the captain of the ferry (and before anyone goes off on some Robin Hood thing - Iroh didn't know that Zuko wasn't stealing only from rich/greedies when he took him to task about it). Just thought that was an interesting 'physician heal thyself' thing.
Tales of Ba Sing Se didn't really further the plot but it did provide character development.
I don't think the Great Divide even accomplished that.

I'm going with the "Great Divide" faction on this one. Not only did it not add anything to the overall plot, but the episode was boring, and the ending SUCKED. The only mildly entertaining thing was Aang's mischevous look when he told Katara and Sokka he lied. That was kinda cool.

I'd have to go with The Great Devide and The Tales of Ba Sing Se. The only thing the later did was some character development on Zuko, which was cute and I love watching it. But neither did anything for the storyline.

I agree with others that "The Great Divide" really didn't advance the plot that much. As for the episodes in season two that seemed not very important to the plot I'm not going to say anything about them just yet because there is always a chance that they might come back in season three. When "Jet" first aired I thought it was a unimportant filler but it proved to be very vital to several events in season two. LOL! My thoughts on the question! Jet seemed to be so out of place and looky there! I am still waiting for the *Great Divide* to reappear! I am counting on it. The creators have thrown us more than one curve ball! laughing all the way!

Hmmm... good point, I thought that Jet would pop up again but didn't really consider the tribes playing another part in the ... thingy. plotline. Whatever. Maybe they will help form a giant army to defeat the Fire Nation! MWAHAHA!
