^Because people take that kind of thing extremely seriously. Nobody wants to be responsible for disregarding an action as "harmless," only to have something very bad happen, especially in this post 9/11 era, when everyone's jumpy. I had an experience in high school where I was angry at my math teacher, and told my guidance counselor, "I wanna kill him!" This is an expression you hear seventy times a day, and nobody really means it. But the dean of students was called in, as well as my parents. It was a huge deal. I was lucky not to be suspended for it. And this was even before 9/11. It's sad that things have to be like this because of a few troubled people who might actually do what they "threaten." And it's sad that a great series like Death Note has to be called into question because some people can't determine fantasy from reality. Odd, though. Why choose dismemberment? Doesn't seem very "Kira-like." I still think it's a prank. They're med students, right? Don't they work with cadavers? Wouldn't it be feasible to grab some body parts from the store room or wherever?
