Interesting how it's "assumed" we'll be having a major war soon enough to think about it...talk about positive thinking.... : /
What is the definition of a major war anyway?

Yah when you mean Major War do you mean wars like Persian Gulf War, or are we talking WW3? There better not be a World War 3! I didn't get reincarnated just to be blown to bits!

I never said the KKK was another nation, sorry if I gave that impression.
Russia is dangerous, mostly because the USSR economy failed but they had all kinds of stuff others are willing to pay good money for. As of now the United States is buying Soviet Nuclear Weapons and using them in Nuclear power plants, but there are still a great number of the weapons in existence. The USSR had a lot of well trained scientists making everything from guidence systems to biological warface components. When the third Reich fell the scientists they had were taken by the United States, or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
China could do a massive amount of damage to the USA by dumping the dollars they have and hurting the economy. We don't have "hard" money, not every dollar printed is backed by gold and that causes all kinds of inflation and problems. American money is easy to duplicate, meaning there is a good amount of counterfeit money in circulation reducing the value of a real dollar. Right now China has a lot of actual American Dollars, and a lot of debt they could call in. Dumping a large amount of money, calling debts in, and passably cutting economic ties, would do more damage than launching a navel fleet. The other side of the coin is that China depends on the United States economically. They export a lot of product, and American companies provide a lot of jobs. The trade organizations the United States is a part of are a bit to powerful to tick off and still expect to do any amount of international work.
As it stands Iran is the next war. They have a leader who will attack American interests as soon as he can, has no problem taking lives on a large scale, believes that what he is doing is right (In his own country and outside of.), and can rally a good number of people to die for those beliefs.
To Darryl: I don't see why not, it's a critical thinking section.

Well from what I hear about Russia, they're only giving Iran nuclear technology to develop nuclear techonloy only. They don't want them making bombs. And don't think that Putin and the leader of Iran are making out! What do you think the Chechnians are? They're a muslim group of terrorists! It's politics! Don't worry Karma will come back to the leader of Iran! In fact a lot of Iranians don't even like him! So I say viva el revolution! After all it's like they say, "What goes around comes around!"

I don't think that China is a threat to us, even if they make crappy toys with lead paint... If were talking WWIII then i think the conflict would arise in the middle east, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. that is the only thing i think we have to worry about or maybe Russia and Cuba will team up like in the movie Red Dawn... And then a team of teens will be the rebels and save us alll...

Then what would the major language be? Heck I'd be ok with that. But I don't know about everyone else, because I speak Russian and Spanish! He he he. I'm just joking about the ganging up on us thing! "Is Shot"

I appreciate the joke, I speak German, it would'nt do me any good if it were to happen!
I also think that the next WWIII is going to involve Nukes, Lets hope supermans there to save us.
It could also be a EMP attack, its one of the simplest things to build, but can "destroy" alot of things, It is a weapon called the EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) it could be dropped say over New York City, the electro magnetic pulse could take out everything in a 50 mile radius, (when I say take out I Mean that everything electonic would fail, Stocks would drop(Becaus ethe computers dont operate) and all computers would fail, hospitals would loose the sick, all hell would break loose, alarm systems would be inefective) and the effects could be even more devestating if the EMP Bomb were to be droped higher in the atmosphere....
I Love the History Channel...

My parents were talking about how if we got in trouble with China we'd "shake their hands and say sorry." I really disagree. They would have a huge advantage with numbers, but like some other people have already stated, they're just not as organized and updated in weaponry as we are. It's still hard to say and a nuclear war scares me more than aliens because we all know the U.S. is NOT invisible, as much as so many people think O.O China is still trying to catch up in everything right now.
Ehh, I can't remember what battle it was or who it was, but sometime in WWII (I think) The Russians were defeated by a much smaller force because the other force took advantage of the horrible weather and the Russians eventually ran out of food.
So really, numbers aren't the only thing that could determine the outcome.
I really have no clue what our next major war will be, and we'll be getting a new president soon and most of the candidates are promising to remove our forces from Iraq, so who really knows. *shrug*

Yeah Nuclear war vs. Aliens Nuclear war WINS by far. If aliens were to come they would die our imune systems are to strong... It was the Russians vs. The Germans, it was one of the coldest times ever recorded in the history of Russia's wheather. The Russians were ready for the weather but the Germans were not well equipted for the battle, the American forces were to come a little later... The Germans retreated, all there equipment was frozen, there tanks were useless too. A few weeks later the Americans fought in the Battle of the Buldge... Thanks to the History Channel, and Band of Brothers! Just a thought not related to this, I think that we need to stay in Iraq we need to finish what we started

I don't see the US getting actively involved in any military conflict with a large ammount of groundforces. They might drop some bombs around the world but i don't believe that the US is going to invade any country soon for the simple reason that the current goverment lacks political support, money to finance the war and the military is seriously short on manpower.
A US vs China war wont happen in in at least 20 years. China needs a lot of time to catch up on organisation and technology. But in about 50 years or so China will be the strongest military superpower.
Even when China will be the strongest nation on earth, i don't see a war happen since economies will be even more connected then they are now.

We don't have "hard" money, not every dollar printed is backed by gold and that causes all kinds of inflation and problems. Our money hasn't been backed by gold since the 19th Century. I doubt we'll ever have aother "war". All anyone can do against the power that America and NATO hold is exactly what is going on in Iraq, an insurgency and terrorism. It's highly doubtful we'll ever have battles again, there's just too huge a gap in technology and manpower between NATO and those who wish to cause harm. All you can have is counterinsurgencies and occupations on our part. Were we to, say, go to war with France or someone, it would simply be ICBM attacks until the other side gives. The age of the soldier is waning. These "LOL CHINA IS TEH 1337" posts I'm seeing are stupid. There are two things we have that China doesn't, an unbelievable nuclear arsenal and allies. EMP isn't a weapon, it's a type of energy. Nuclear weapons release some EMP, by the way. Ehh, I can't remember what battle it was or who it was, but sometime in WWII (I think) The Russians were defeated by a much smaller force because the other force took advantage of the horrible weather and the Russians eventually ran out of food. You're thinking of the Germans, and Hitler's failed invasion of Russia could very well have cost him the war. Numbers are completely irrelevant in today's wars, you hardly even need soldiers anymore.

The relationship with China and US is like a leech and a tick feeding off one another. Most of our money goes over there, circulates in their economy for a bit and, through the beauty of globalization, winds up right back in American businesses and investments. The economic inflation is gonna catch up with China though. There economy is expanding rather rapidly which is gonna end up a serious problem in the long run...but I digress. If we end up in another "war," it'll most likely be in the Middle East against primarily unorganized insurgents using subpar weaponry. And the US will continue to struggle against these unorganized insurgents and their subpar weapons...

And the US will continue to struggle against these unorganized insurgents and their subpar weapons... Only because certain politician decided to stop teaching counterinsurgency to soldiers and marines after Vietnam (For what reason, I don't know). If we'd just be allowed to create a new program, success would drastically improve.

The EMP is a type of energy...That is used in warfare. China is the Next Japan, after WWII Japan (Maybe 5 years later) Japan started copying Americas inventions, and Inovations on certain things, Mostly Technology. Then Japan Became the leader in Electronics, Only after there Inovations on American made products, soon Japan would create there own electronocs. China is doing the same thing for example; In the Magazine called Popular Science in the September 2007 Edition it is called Meet the iClone, it tells all about China's revalutionary ways of copying american things such as the iPhone, and many kinds of vheicles In 1998 Chevy Came out with this Chevy Spark, Popular with College Students for its good Gas milage In 2003 China came out with a Clone of the Chevy Spark, called the Cherry QQ There are also various cell phones that are being copyed by China
