*sigh* I'm not even going to attempt to post my essay thing. I believe just about everything I would have said has already been covered by others. ^.^
@lexy--You're certainly not alone. I think most of the people who say Kataang is cliche are die-hard fans of an opposing ship who are determined to find as many flaws as possible in Kataang. Anyone who sincerely thinks Kataang is cliche needs to get his head checked. They depth and intimacy of their relationship far surpasses that of any other fictional couple I've ever seen. It *would* be cliche if all of a sudden, at the very end of the series, they randomly discover they have feelings for one another and decide to hook up--but that's not what is happening with Kataang. Their relationship is developing slowly and realistically, with plently of unexpected obstacles to overcome that override the sort if innate cliche in the hero-gets-the-girl couples.
Don't listen to the cliche people.

People are going to pull the cliche card no matter what. And it's true what Psylum said, that to some degree every relationship is going to match up with some cliche or another. It's just a question of how many it fits and how well. I don't think Kataang is even close to being the most cliche-ridden pairing in the Avatar fandom, but I'm sure to someone who dislikes it, the cliche aspects that are there will be much more obvious than the good aspects of the pairing.

I always knew they were far more male Kataang shippers than male Zutara shippers. I'm a 17 year old male and all of the reasons that everyone stated has made like Kataang even more

I ship Kataang because Kataang is one of the cutest couples on the show, I might even say the cutest but personally I think that spot is for Meng/Aang (yes, I even ship Meng/Aang), but whatever....Anyways, I love how Katara sees Aang and not the Avatar. I love how their relationship has been developped throughout the two seasons and I even like the fact that it's the girl who's two years older. Plus all those cute moments on the show and tragic and so deep moments between them. *coughespeciallyTheDesertcough*

Why? One sentence answers are not a response and do nothing for the discussion. Saying you don't like it does nothing for the thread and I am telling you to put more thought into your posts.
I happen to love Kataang. I love Aang and I love Katara and the two of them have this wonderful magic. I don't think any other Katara or Aang ship has their magic and this ship allows them to grow as people, yet they can be who they are and don't have to fundamentally adjust their characters to fit someone else.

Why do I ship you ask? Because I had a dream........A dream that love would never die in the eternal pit of darkness that we call time and WAR!!!!!!!!!! JUST LET THEM BE TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!! IF THEY WANT IT. That and because it's so cute. :3 To be serious, I think that Aang and Katara are meant for each other.

The creators said it is in the DNA of the show so it's pretty much a done deal.

The creators said it is in the DNA of the show so it's pretty much a done deal. Not necessarily. I'm sure they've have had other ships in mind from the beginning too. It's no fun if they just give it away like that. So... just out of curiousity, do you ship Kataang because it's canon or for another reason?

Why I ship Kataang? Let me count thy ways...
Kataang is, quite simply, wonderful. It has to be the best ship I've ever supported, and not just because it's canon. With every fluffy moment, it fills you up to the brim with warmth and love, making you crave more. Kataang can bring out emotions that can bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye. It's just... magical.
People who say it's cliche, or some other ridiculous nonsense, are just silly. I've seen a lot of cheesy ships, but Kataang is definitely not cheesy. Katara and Aang are always supporting each other, through thick and thin, through life and death. Kataang is a relationship where both people benefit, and both people help each other mature and grow together.
Two best friends falling in love with each other is a ship that you don't see everyday, when, quite frankly, we should see it more often. Friendship is very important. It builds up trust and love, until it's time to take the next step. Without friendship, a relationship is just flimsy. I know that I never have a crush on someone without becoming friends and getting to know them first, just like with Katara and Aang. (Of course, they also had the 'love at first sight' thing going on for them, which helps even more)
All I know is, I can't wait to see even more Kataang moments in Season 3. I know that I'll be laughing, crying, and just savoring each and every moment that'll happen. It's relationships like these that are epic, and I'm going to enjoy Kataang while it lasts.

Kataang is so beautiful. It is beautiful and passionate and symbolic and hopeful. It brings love into two people so devastated from war. I don't understand why people considerate to not be passionate and just simply canon. (And just as a note, if Zutara is passion, where IS this passion exactly?) Katara did suggest that they kiss. Mothers don't suggest that they kiss their children on the lips, so that also dismisses the "mother/child" theory.
I am a reasonable person, and I don't go along with things just because they are "cliche." If you saw me at school, it's why I'm not popular. But Kataang is different....it's just so...enchanting. It reminds me of InuYasha and Kagome; someone else said this once, like when InuYasha went into his demon form, but Kagome's love brought him back, just like Katara has the power of her heart to bring Aang back to himself.
If Katara really loved Zuko (it pains me typing that), then WHY in heaven's name did she run away from him at her first sight of Aang and say, "I knew you would come."
It was never really a joke; at the beginning, Aang did have a little "schoolboy" crush on Katara, but as people can plainly see, it has changed a lot since then. Aang wouldn't be alive without Katara, and Katara wouldn't be who she is without Aang. If it was just a schoolboy crush, then he would let go of her right away to get the Avatar State. But he didn't. It took until he felt her life was truly in danger before he tried to make that sacrifice, but then he got nowhere...I believe in symbolism.
It reminds me of what Kana said when they left the south pole: "Aang is the Avatar. He's the world's only chance. You both found him for a reason. Now your destinies are intertwined with his." This makes me believe in fate.
