NO RP: Here it is.
The girls waited for the king’s answer.
“All right, I’ll do it,” Bumi agreed, “but you, Taiyo, have to be my new minion. The first one is gone.”
Taiyo grimaced and reluctantly, “Uh….OK.”
Bumi cackled and took her under his wing. “We’ll give these people what they’ve been wanting. As long as I announce the battles. You just stick with me.”
“Uh, Bumi,” she said. “That was already part of the deal; you didn’t have to repeat it.”
“First, get me some flavored water while I announce the first match of round 2.”
Taiyo shrugged. “I’ll be back, your Majesty.”
She left to go get his water as Bumi stood in the center of the arena. With a stomp of his foot, the earth began to shake and everyone stopped socializing. The crazy old king smiled. “Citizens of Gaoling! I bring to you the first match of Round 2!”
The crowd cheered as Toph muttered, “Finally.”
“First up is Aang versus Katara!”
Everybody grimaced. Toph whistled. “Wow, nothing better than kicking your crush to the curb.”
Aang started to stutter, “B-b-I don’t want to fight her!”
“It’s just a tournament,” Toph pointed. “Look at Katara, she’s not as worried. In fact, she looks like she’s looking forward to it.” She grinned teasingly at her friend. “Just think of it as a date.”
Aang glared at Toph. “I don’t see sparring as dating.”
“Just get out there,” she told him.
Aang sighed and went up to the arena, everyone was cheering. Katara smiled warmly at him. “It’s just a tournament, Aang.”
Aang nodded nervously as some earthbenders brought ten barrels of water like they did for when she battled Master Pakku. She waterbended five barrels of water and Aang did the same.
“Remember, Aang, you can use more than one element,” Bumi stated.
Aang shook his head. “That would give me an unfair advantage. I’ll just go with water. After all.” He smiled lightly. “She is my teacher.”
“Suit yourself.” Bumi waved off with one hand. He walked over to get the gong. “BEGIN!” He rung it and prepared to ring it again for the fun of it but Toph already demolished it with her earthbending.
Katara formed the Water Octopus while Aang readied two water whips. She made the first move by moving three legs towards him. Aang knocked them away with his arms and aimed his two whips at her. She neutralized it by quickly forming whips of her own and met with his. They both froze their whips to trap the other. Aang, without thinking, shifted his weight to swing everything, including Katara, in hopes of breaking the ice. It didn’t. Katara refused to unfreeze her whips and tried the same move.
Everyone watched in awe and amusement. Toph folded her arms and rolled her eyes. “Great, they’re playing ring around the rosy.”
This continued until Aang noticed that they were at the edge. One more swing and they would both go down. With determination, Aang swung again and did something new. When he swung the frozen whips and Katara, he hit against the edge while she was the only one sticking out. It broke the ice and Katara fell off down to the ground.
Bumi rushed to the arena and raised Aang’s arm up. “Winner….AANG!!!!”
Aang was about to ask Bumi to let go of him until he saw Toph and Sokka running across to get to Katara.
“She’s a big girl, Twinkle Toes,” Toph told him seriously. “We’ll check on her. Just soak up your glory.”
Aang blinked but nodded in appreciation to her. “Thanks, Toph.”
She nodded her welcome to him and followed Sokka. Taiyo came back with the flavored water. Bumi snatched it.
“What took you so long?”
“My bad. I was busy watching the battle,” Taiyo replied.
“Hmph…well go along until I call you up again.”
“OK.” She walked off to join Kanasha and Ardor. She smiled at Ardor. “Welcome to Earth Rumble. Hopefully you have fun. You guys want anything to drink?"
