I don't think so, M&B are too good for that. Although I'm sure there will be some such conflict in S3, and I'm sure it will have to do with Aang's duty.

What I have been wondering is why doesn't the Fire Nation kill Aang. If they do kill Aang he will be born again but he will not have a chance to master the elements in time. Maybe the Fire Nation will take this step in the next season.

It would make the show more interesting, but it breaks my heart to see poor Aangy suffer . On the other hand, I'm sure Katara wouldn't let that happen . But didn't Zhao plan to kill Aang when he captured him in the Blue Spirit?

Aang would be devastated, and so would the rest of the group, and the show would'nt be the same without Katara, so I think it is a safe bet to say that Katara will be alright, and Kataang will last forever.

Of coarse, it's a part of the plot afterall. Maybe Katara'll come close to dieing, which will awaken Aang's avatar state, destroying the FN army, and then he'll come out of it, seeing Katara is somehow alright again, then they confess their feelings and kiss . Wow, I started writing a mini-fanfic there.

i really hope aang tells katara that he loves her in the third season. i mean, he HAS to. if its the last season, then they cant leave us hanging like that. so, i think we can pretty much count on that happening. i wanna see kataras reaction.

Yup, the fate of Kataang hinges on Katara's reaction, and Aang's duty. Personally, I don't think there's much of a chance that Katara'll reject Aang, the main conflict is Aang's duty now.

The one thing that's hovering above their relationship ready to destroy them is Aang's duty. If Katara does hold any feelings for him that are more than just platonic, then it's going to be something they're going to battle. Aang would probably just say that there's nothing they could do, and as much as he loves her, he knows they can't be together or have more than a platonic relationship. I still have this feeling in my gut that Katara is going to confess to Aang that she feels something for him. I can see this pretty much happening around the beginning of the season, or close to the middle.

I'm sorry, but I'm one of those that would rather see Aang be able to have his happy ending with Katara. In part because I think his duty will be realized with the help of all of them. It has been that way already. Look at their team now as it is: Aang - Air Nation Katara & Sokka - Water Nation Toph - Earth Nation And on some level Iroh, Jeong-jeong, Chey, and others of the Fire Nation. 4 nations that have been working together (or at least 3 of the four) working regularly throughout the series together. I don't think even with mastering the Avatar State Aang will be able to defeat the Fire Lord. I think it will take the help of his friends and all the nations. And that is why I don't necessarily think this is all Aang's responsibility. And yes, I'm a big romantic sap. I really don't care. I adore Aang's character. I adore Katara's character. I adore their bond and their special relationship. And I don't think this message of teamwork, family, and the help of others is there just to have it dismissed and foisted off onto Aang's little shoulders. Eh, I'm just rambling.

I hope she does too, and don't be sorry! I'm one of those people too. I really do think it's a possibility that Aang will be able to save the world and get the girl at the same time. I know there's people who dismiss it, and I can see why, but the thing is that this is a fantasy story. The way The Creators have been writing and developing the plot, it all leads to Aang and Katara having something more than just a platonic relationship. (At least, that's the way I see it) It would be quite a shame if their relationship was tossed away for something like "The Avatar State because he needs its power!!!11". He doesn't need that power. Yes, it's a benefit but he doesn't need it the way he thinks and everybody else does. My guess is that the AS is somehow destroyed, or something along those lines.
I'm a huge romantic sap, and I don't care either. Others can say this or that to try to say differently but it all comes down to taste. The characters deserve some happiness and closure, and I hope that's what happens by the end of season 3.

My only beef with that would be if they continued with the idea that Aang has to let her go to reach enlightenment, and then there's this huge, abrupt loophole, like "it turns out the power of love was what he needed all along! Durrrrrp!" I don't like that loophole. If they want to make it a choice, make it absolute. Either Aang has Katara, or he has his full potential as the Avatar. I would rather see him choose Katara and be a disapointment to the Guru and Roku than see him have this crazy loophole, and I would have way more respect for him if he made what myself and like one or two other people in the entire fandom think would be the more responsible choice.

Well, if he chose love, I wouldn't want it to result in the world being taken over by the FN. I want there to be some way he can save the world and have Katara. And I do think that can work out without the AS. He is the avatar, he'll be a master of all 4 elements by the time he has to beat the firelord and, if that's not powerful, then I don't know what is.

I have no idea what The Creators are going to do with the plot of Aang, the chakras, and the Avatar State but I have a feeling that there might be another way for Aang to win the war without having to use that great power. We don't know what happened to the Avatar Cycle, or the spirit because of what Azula did. Maybe, in some way, she destroyed a part of it -- to the point where he can't go into the AS anymore? Maybe he just has the skills to master all the elements instead? That speech Iroh gave him kind of felt like there might be another way for Aang to go about this "saving the world" thing. I dunno, and that's why I really wanna know whats up in season 3.
