Yeah, I have friends who, as teenagers, refuse to date guys who are younger than them. Yet they totally supported me when I started liking a guy who was younger than me. (Okay, 75 days doesn't REALLY count, but, when it means a whole grade difference, then it does)

I agree with daydream. They were just talking about stuff in general to get to know each other....can't see any romance in that.

Yeah, and I don't see how being the same age matters much of anything. In that world, it seems like age doesn't mean much of anything.

I don't think age makes much of a difference at all. I was with a guy that was almost 10 years older than me. Age is just a number.

Age is not a factor at all when it comes to loving someone. Making age a factor is apparently the "norm" in society. If the creators really want to stick to the cliched "same age" group, then it would be pretty obvious that Toph and Aang would get together wouldn't it? I like Kataang, but I would prefer romance to really begin flinging when they are older.
If people consider the Toph and Aang walk scene evidence of their apparent "love", then they also have to consider the amount of scenes where Aang and Katara are alone together.

Not only that, but opposites don't always attract. Many times they blow up. Look at Toph and Aang. Two completely different personalities. And honestly, Aang's sweet. Toph's personality would dominate his and we've seen how uncomfortable that can be for him. Same age...big deal. Age doesn't seem to mean anything in this show. Yin/Yang...can be applied to anything. Should not be considered as the all determining factor for pairings because if you use it for that, then a case could be made for Katara and Iroh. Toph/Aang's walk...they were getting to know each other. And he was trying to convince her to be his teacher. Nothing more than that. Katara and Aang have had many moments that could be considered far more romantic. And honestly, the main reason I see for people supporting Taang is because it finally gives people a way to get Aang full out of the way in order to pave the way for Zutara. There is nothing to suggest Aang and Toph would be a match. In fact, considering their behavior towards each other in recent episodes, I'd say that it is pretty clear they aren't a good match.

I consider those two the dangerous kind of opposites- that if they don't find some common ground between them (which will be hard, considering) then they will always conflict in some way, all of the time.

I don't think Taang would ever work out. First of all, Aang is currently too smitten with Katara to notice any other girl. And if Katara does get together with another boy, he'd be too crushed to want any relationship at all. And they're personalities crash too much with each other. I mean, I know that "opposites attract", but sometimes that doesn't work. For that to work, they've got to balance each other (i.e. Aang is sometimes childish, Katara is sometimes too serious. Katara helps Aang be more serious and he helps her have more fun), which I don't think happens with Aang and Toph, mainly because Toph's personality is very strong.

Aang and Katara do balance each other out. She helps him focus on being the Avatar and Aang helps her realize that she's still young enough to have fun. A match made in heaven!
