the thing i really like about tophaang is that it is nat the obvious one. kataang as been playing out since the biggining of the series. if some where down the line, the story just flips on us and toph and aang becomes an item, it would be an unexpected (though i guess i do really expect it) suprise, unlike kataang. i also must say i do like zutara, but it just has little to no basis for me.

You eat...babies? Um...okay... Actually, Kataang, even though it may be cliche, still has twists and turns. The relationship may seem fluffy at first, but honestly, it could get extremely dark, darker than what Nick could ever imagine. It's not just the pure, innocent love that everybody perceives it to be; it could get dark.

Um... I HATE relationship surprizes, theres nothing good about them. *kills them* Another reason why taang is a stupid orange monkey. Kataang is something expected, GOOD! And I definatley agree with mash on this one. Zutara seems like it might have a basis once zuko joins the team tho.... assuming that he will (remember the chase)? ur like... compeltley opposite me. Like taang, but dont like kataang and zutara not so much. I love katang and zutara bur hate taang.... erm...

Oh no, I hate predictable ships. I love never knowing what's going to happen next. Kataang, although very fluffy, is just a little too straight foreword. Not really any big shockers. YAWN. Where's the fun if you can more or less figure out how each conflict will end up? Yeah, Kataang could get dark, but I don't really feel like the show will be turning in that direction anytime soon. So I'm sticking with my unpredictable Zutara and Taang.

Maybe it could. You never know. Aang has millions of dark secrets about his past that might just be affecting him in ways that we either can't see or might come out in the open later on. That would be interesting to see.

So I'm sticking with my unpredictable Zutara and Taang. Well, Katang has a lot of unique aspects besides the typical pairing. I just personally don't like unpredictable relationships... because then it just happens and seems so cliche. Has no flow or backbone to it... cause aang and toph don't like each other at all. I like Zutara for different reasons, but that doesn't seem like its going to happen either, though more of a chance than taang. As long as its not like... all of a sudden... and cliche.

So I'm sticking with my unpredictable Zutara and Taang. As long as it doesn't get too far out of hand, unpredictability is okay. It gets old and bad when it gets overdone though. The RoguexGambit relationship in X-Men is a good example of that. It started out cute and innocent enough, but then quickly got way out of hand, to the point where a lot of people hate it. It gets bad when the girl starts leaving the guy alone in Antartica to die (and then the guy goes BACK to her, wtf?)...it's unpredictable certainly...but also bad.

One thing that I personally like about Kataang, is that SHE's older. (100 years in an iceburg doesn't count). My favorite ship in another show is the same way. She's older than him (by one year) and it makes it awkward for him to try to ask her out. (Trust me, he tried) Even AFTER their near kiss (which was in episode 22, and COTL was episode 22, just thought I'd point that out), it STILL took him almost a whole season to work up the courage to follow her home and try to ask her out. (which ended badly, seeing as a guy she likes as a friend only tried to kiss her, not knowing he was watching).
It's that little bit of unpredictability that I love. Sure, the main girlxmain boy ship has been done, but when the creators add just a hint of spice to it, like the age difference, that's what make me want to watch the show (and almost curse out the TV when they don't kiss - that's happened before)
I think that might have been my longest post, not counting my stories.

Barley any shows do that. :3 The boy is usually older because men prefer younger women and women prefer older men. There have been studies about it, and it's universal around the world. Not to say it's absolute--men don't HAVE to like younger women, and vice versa-- but that's why many shows portray the man as being older. They're mimicking real life.
