Here I come, a newbie, with.... [shadow=red,left,300]Zutara pride![/shadow] ;D
Here I would like to post some of the best points made about Zutara. Not all of them are from me, but they are all from my forum at FF.net.
--I seriously can't tell what's going to happen anymore. The creator's have successfully proven they don't mind surprising us and taking odd twists with this show. So what I'm hoping is that Zuko does join the group, maybe not immediately, and everyone like stilll hates him. But they start to warm up to him because he proves himself, say saving Katara^_^, and then she starts talking to him, and I think that Toph wouldn't fear talking to him. And aang woldn't either, because of the thing with the Blue Spirit. But Sokka...we might have problems with him! ^_^
--This is the perfect example of the "opposites attract" theory. Fire and water, sun and moon, ying and yang...they completely balance each other out!
Yes, physically, they do look good together. They are also both determined benders with scary tempers when angered. They both became adept at their skills through hard work and determination, instead of relying on raw talent, and the little subplot between them only strengthens the possibility of this pairing. in "The Waterbending Scroll" Zuko's interrogation tactic with Katara's necklace was (dare I say it?) very seductive. I doubt he would have been this way with Sokka or Aang. He probably would have beaten both of them to a pulp. In "Bato of the Water Tribe," after Jun's creepy monster paralyzed Katara and Sokka, at one point, Zuko grabbed onto Katara so that she wouldn't fall. He didn't do this for Sokka, yet Sokka managed to hang on just fine. Also, in "The Fortuneteller" Katara's fortune only said she would marry a powerful bender - it never specified who the bender was. And Zuko is powerful, in his own right...
Then there's the season finale. I'm not going to sugarcoat this great fight by saying that neither of them were fighting to their fullest. I think they were, for they still consider one another enemies...but this battle showed the full extent of ying-yang, and...well...according to the creators, the finale was slightly inspired by the shippers. Yes, the creators are aware of the popularity of both Kataang and Zutara, and since there were so many Zutara shippers, I'm wondering...
--I honestly don't see what is wrong with the fact that they are opposite in that Zuko represents fire and Katara represents water. That is a common theme. Just look at Mulan 2. They are a lot alike when it comes to their past and their personality. Here's a few points.
-Both have one sibling. Sure this isn't a big thing, but I'm just picking out things that they have in common. Having a sibling means that they could talk about things like how much they hate it when their sibling does this or that and can relate to each other.
-Both are far away from their fathers. Again, they can relate to how much they may miss thier fathers. This is a little more shaky seeing as Zuko probably hates his father right about now.
-This one is questionable because my facts may be off, but... If I am correct, both of thier mothers are dead. I'm not sure if Zuko's mother is dead, but for some reason I keep thinking that his is. Anywho. This is another thing that they could discuss and say how much they wish their mothers were alive or whatnot.
-They both have a short fuse. I'm not so sure this would be a good thing, but I'm just listing things they have in common.
Aside from all of the things that Zuko and Katara have in common, I think that this pairing is just as likely as Katang. I have only one REAL issue with Katang.
My issue is that when you think back to Aunt Wu, remember the love life that Aunt Wu predicted for both Katara and Aang.
Katara's prediction was that she would marry a powerful bender. This could be Aang, Zuko, or someone who hasn't been introduced into the series yet. For all we know, it could be Uncle Iroh. I'm not really serious on that, but you see what I'm saying.
Aang's prediction had absolutely NO love life in it. Sure, after Aang mentioned love to Aunt Wu, she made up something that would lift Aang's spirits, but it didn't mean anything.
I'll agree with you if you say that Aunt Wu is a fortune teller and we ALL know that that stuff is fake, but this is a cartoon, people. You could drop an anvil on someone's head and five seconds later, they'd be up and running like nothing happened. The point is, if you read or watch ANYTHING with a fortune teller in it, their fortune is ALWAYS a foreshadowing of what is to come. Since Zuko didn't and probably wouldn't have his fortune told, we have no strong evidence that he and Katara could be together. The only evidence that we have is that it isn't going to be Aang. Of course, there is always a first time for everything and I am totally up for the idea that Aunt Wu's prediction had nothing to do with ANY of the pairings, but I'm just shedding some light on things.
As for the comment about monks can't get married and have children. You are right, but as Mystic said, Aang wouldn't have been old enough to take those vows. And like Mystic said, Nick wouldn't dive that deep into something like that especially for a Y7 cartoon. By the way, I think the age that you take vows is either 16 or 18... I'm not quite sure. I may be way off. lol
--And i like your little phrase. "She could heal his heart" Cause it's not just his face that was burned. I could just imagine him spilling his sad story to Katara and her, listening and consoling him. Aww...and Aang...on the side being all crushed like. And Sokka blowing a gasket
Perfect picture. I think I'll send it in my christmas cards
--I ship Zutara and I can tolerate Kataang, but can't you tell that Kataang seems so forced and just... bleh? It's the traditional cliche ship: Hero and Leading Female. And I must ask you, what 14-year-old girl you know wants to go out with a 12-year-old? It'd be like a 9th-grader going out with a 7th-grader. Whereas Zutara... Maybe a bit more plausible.
Now let's say, if Zuko joined the trio, do you think it would be possible for Zutara? YES, there is a chance of that happening. I firmly stand by that belief.
To me, Kataang is overated. First off, you've got all those rabid Kataang fans over at SPAR who will do anything to bash Zutara (even though they claim NOT to...). And then there's the whole petition thing to the creators--it disgusts me. I say it was truly the Kataangians that started the ship wars.
Now, granted, some of the Kataangians are absolutely wonderful and tolerant people--you know, if you don't bast my ship then I won't bash yours. And frankly, it works quite well. I do not appreciate bashings of my ship, but I do appreciate a civil debate every once in a while. You are entitled to your opinion, and that is just fine. You have justified why you have this opinion (although your justification is rather irrevelant and minor in the grand scheme of things), and I thank you for at least giving a reason why Zutara is so overated/sucks so much.
--People always seem to say that Katara and Zuko are complete opposites. This is untrue; both are teenagers; both are benders; both are very determined and will fight very hard for what they believe in/want to accomplish. Both have a temper (i.e. Katara yelling at Sokka about his dirty socks in episode 1, Katara yelling at Aang in episode 9, Katara getting WAY ticked off at Paku in episode 18; and Zuko... well, he's ALWAYS tempermental, lol), and both are real softies at heart (i.e. Zuko trying to save Zhao in the season finale, Zuko risking his life to save the helmsman after the lightning strikes in episode 12; and Katara--well, that's just Katara's personality). So. They can bend at about the same level. And um. Yeah. So none of you say that Zuko and Katara are complete opposites. Coz they aren't, as I just proved. Which means that if you don't like the whole opposites attract thing then you need another reason to hate Zutara because they're both. Does that make sense?
Ok I think I'll stop there. But I have seen so many times people state how much they love Zutara and these long, beautiful statments. I admit I had made a couple, but I couldn't find them, so this is the best I could come up with.
I am a nice Zutara shipper, and I like discussing it civilally. I have seen some
nasty bashing, and it's really just rude and pointless.
I am also a fan of Tong/Tophaang whatever we call it and Karu. I don't like Katang, but I don't hate it. Maiko though....grr I'm sorry but Maiko and Soko are my
least favorite pairing. I don't want to start anything so that's how I'll state it.
Thank you,
