Yah, it should be slow and steady...they need to become friends first, and Zuko does need to sort some things out in his life. A cute Soko moment would be when Zuko's feeling down or unwanted, Song could be right there next to him comforting him

I'm all for subtle fluff--I'd be happy if Song just made it clear that she understood who Zuko is and why he did what he did and tell him that he knows where to find her when he feels like apologizing talking. XD
Or you know, something spiffier--either way, I don't ask much. XD

Sorry to double post, but I just thought of something. I'm getting really tired of the 'Song didn't affect Zuko cuz he stole her hostrich thing' argument. Plz, just because he pulled that stunt doesn't cancel out the fact that she was able to get a reaction out of him that wasn't hostile. In fact, it makes sense: -Azula is after him and Uncle. Quicker transportation, plz! -Song just got through to him that you can still be kind and understanding and live a pretty wholeful life--YES, EVEN AFTER GETTING SCARRED BY THE FIRE NATION, ZOMG! XD -Zuko is obviously not ready to wrap his brain around this concept, so...c'mere birdy-horse! Let's get the hell outta here before my brain breaks! -Also, Zuko, while omg refugee, was still brought up somewhat spoiled. I mean, banished, but you get your own ship and fleet? Also, royalty does not ask for what they need--peasants should be 'giving them whatever they ask for'--remember that line from an episode that was just before CoTL? Yeah. -Zuko was/is still transitioning from the idea of becoming strong and reclaiming his honor for daddy the firenation to becoming strong for himself and walking the nobler path (or so we're inclined to believe right now). Song was a bit of a wake-up call to him, and maybe even just a bit too early for him to handle all that well. So what does Zuko usually do when faced with an option or an opinion that he did not think of/agree with/whatever reason? Exactly--he lashes out. Usually physically and/or verbally, but surprise--not with Song! And I think that's something to not be overlooked. kthx, rant over. Fanart coming up soon. XD

Omg, I'm tired of that argument too, seriously, just cause he took it doesn't mean that he was uneffected...she probably effected him, just that he didn't show it. Well I have to give you karma for your rant inuyatta xD because it was all well said^^

I am so sick of that argument as well. I just posted something in the "Worst Relationship for Zuko" thread that kind of relates to this. Here's some of it, slightly tweaked: Song wanted Zuko to be able to move on like she had and she wanted to give him hope, but he wasn't ready and he didn't want to admit to himself that she affected him in a strong way; it's easier for him to deny the fact that she impacted him. What goes along with his denial is he not wanting her to like him because he doesn't feel he deserves it and he doesn't want to let anyone in to help him (he thinks that if she doesn't like him, she'll ignore him); that's part of the reason why he stole her ostrich-horse (besides the fact that it provided a faster way to travel). He figured she'd dislike him after that, yet my impression was that she still liked him, she was just sad and disappointed that he took the animal, but understood that he needed it as he is a 'refugee' and she knows what it's like to have barely enough to get by. Song seems like a very nice, forgiving, understanding, and non-judgmental person who would be there for the people she cares about no matter what they do or what happens.Inuyatta, I can't wait for your fanart!

^ That last facial expression is the best is cause it's one of the few times where Zuko really looks like the same person he was before the Agni Kai. You see that small little upside-down D a lot in Zuko Alone when he's younger. Maybe there's some significance there... www.avatarspirit.net/images/screenshots/207/275.jpgwww.firebender.com/e2/images/280.jpgSee? Maybe the connection is that facial expression occurs during really shocking, surprising and ultimately life changing moments

Hi. I am new to the this Soko War Room and this site in general... But I am sooo happy to find a place to talk about Soko with others. ^^ Not to mention you all have a massive list of ZukoxSong stuff! *Squeals* (And hey my fanfiction is on the list. *Blushes*) Anyway... Here are is my main reason for loving the ship. And my odd understanding of Zuko hehe. This will teach you more then you ever wanted to know about a stranger. But I am just using myself as an example to explain my point. *Laughs* Song could be very healing for Zuko. Whether they ended up in a romantic relationship or just friends. I understand Zuko's need to win his father's love no matter what. There is something about having a parents love that a child is desperate for even at 16 years of age.(Or 19 as the case maybe. he.) He has lost both his parents a very traumatic way. Thus being coming what his father wants me to be is the only way to get the love he so desperately wants. I guess in a way Zuko lost himself and became sort of a shell. I went through the same thing when I was a younger teen. I didn't understand why my mother didn't love me, and would do anything for her. Even if it hurt me in the end.(My grandparents raised me.) I had my grandparents there in the background yelling at that they loved me and wasn't that enough? Well yes and no. I always had the fear in the back of my mind that they would stop loving me too. Maybe because they were my mom and dad. So that was sort of what I expected. It was hard to find the identity outside of what my mother wanted me to be. So that was what I was. Even with my grandparents there to cheer me on in finding my own way it didn't work. Until I met my best friend, Rachel. She taught me to see myself as myself. Not as what others wanted me to be, but what I wanted myself to be. Because I knew that she would love me no matter what I found myself. Rachel taught me to see the better side of myself. She is just that kind of person. Much like Song is. I view Song as Zuko's Rachel. Or at least it could be that way... ;.; Dang you Nick. Yes Uncle Iroh loves Zuko like a father, but there is always that voice in the back of any kids head that has gone through something like this. That at any moment the person that says they love you like a father will leave you too. But then there are the people that are strangers to our hearts that become our most familiar friends. They teach us things about ourselves that we didn't even know we had. Song taught Zuko understanding of what it was like on the other side. She was the one to really open his eyes to others suffering as well as his own. In the end Zuko becomes a better person because of her. ^^; WOow... That is long... Ps. I know Iroh would never hurt Zuko... This is just my opinion coming from a mind set quite similar to Zuko's in season one.
