Recently Dongbu Feng (my site) has started up our own Avatar podcast! It's due in part to the lack of new Avatar podcasts and we just wanted to create one! I invite you all to check it out: dongbufeng.net/ftsw/. We're also on iTunes: phobosapple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=216336736. Please check it out and leave us comments! Eventually we'd like to do a mailbag segment if we can get enough comments to read on the air. Send comments to podcast@dongbufeng.net. Thanks so much and I hope you like it! PS: I co-hosted the second episode!

Hey Pooldude! I'm extremely sorry I didn't reply sooner. You've got a good podcast going. Already from the first to the second one you improved a lot on the technical side and just know it's going to get even better! I'll tell you right now what think is your greastest asset- Your inside info & insights on the episodes from TV.com. Be sure to work that for all it's worth every episode and I guarantee you'll get listeners! As you've asked for comments, let me offer some suggestions. Not as an annoying picky memeber mind you but as someone who works in video and audio communications for a living. -I really like your intro. It's mixed well and has a great selection of voice clips! However it's still a bit on the long side. Perhaps keeping it to 30 seconds or less might work better. -How do you record your audio / what equipment / software do you use to mix it? The reason I ask is only because having the voices appear on seperate left and right channels is a little harsh to listen to with headphones. It's all good when I listen to it in my car where sounds get muffeled & blended anyway, but it gets harder when it's on a set of speakers that are spaced father apart from each other. It's like having you guys talk to each other from across my room! I think downmixing the channels might be a good idea. -I could recommend a few pretty good podcasting equipment kits if you'd like depending on what computer platform you're using. They include quality mics and a mixer too that hook up to your recording software. Just let me know if you're interested. -I liked how your topic conversations where more consise in your third podcast and kept to a quicker pace. The hardest thing to do is keep on topic and keep the conversation interesting and not drifting too far away. That comes with time and practice. I think you're doing really a great job and loved your freaky backwards- April fool's message. Yes, I have no life and too much audio software. XD If I can ever help you out in any way please don't hesitate to ask! Okay? please please please please... XD

Thanks for all the compliments alternatecoppa. Since I do most of the the podcast I'll respond. I was thinking that about the intro too. I'll probably cut it for the next ones. We talk in Skype and I record using Pretty May, a Skype call recorder. (If you know of any better I'd be interested.) I edit using Audacity. We all use headsets I think and me and Jake have the same headset which is the Logitech one. It goes left and right becuase Pretty May records me in one and other people in another. I'll look into seeing if I can merge them on Audacity. Sometimes after the two separate feeds is helpful if I am louder or softer than the other hosts. Please recommend anything! We've been getting a lot saying that they like when the discussions are shorter. I think it'll all depend on the topic and how much we know about it. (Usually a lot, xD.) Thanks about the April Fools thing. I pretty much did that in 5 minutes, xD. Anything you can do to help would be great! Do you mean like co-hosting or editing stuff? Thanks again!

Anything you can do to help would be great! Do you mean like co-hosting or editing stuff? Thanks again! It's your show, so whatever you guys want. I can do either. I'm a renaissance geek XD If you'd like to see a "resume" sampling of my video works check out this thread: distanthorizons.proboards31.com/index.cgi?board=oart&action=display&thread=1175540073I host the last two videos posted on the first page. Though I promise I can sound less mentally challenged & rehearsed than I do in those. As for the software/hardware recommendations let me put together some links for you and then I'll post them.

Well, I think the way I edit right now is below you and some of the things you've done. Maybe there's a better way than Audacity though... You're welcome to cohost whenever. I'm thinking of reformatting the podcast so new programs would definitely be welcome. Let's continue this by email.

You're welcome to cohost whenever. I'm thinking of reformatting the podcast so new programs would definitely be welcome. Let's continue this by email. Thanks I'd love to! As for my equipment/software recommendations I've been looking for the lest expensive items I could find. The truth is though that if you're going to capture quality sound you're going to need quality microphines and a processor to get it into the computer for recording. You guys communicate via Skype correct? That's a good way to go but simple headset mics and the Skype compression help to create less desirable audio. One way to go about it would be to talk to each other via Skpe but individually record your voices on your own computers to un-Skype-Compressed files and then send those files to your editor to mix together. Of course there are other less time-consuming ways to improve the sounds coming through Skype, one of which is using better quality mics. Another place to look for great tips & recommendations is this forum: podcastacademy.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8What kind of budget do you want to put into (Yeah I know, $0 please) if you can give me a price range that'll help me narrow down my suggestions to you. Right now I can recommend kits that range from $70 to $300.

I can't listen to it. I click on the link for podcast #4 and I get the April Fool's Day one. It's done this three times! I liked it better when you could just get them from your website (which doesn't work for me now). I'm not wasting anymore of my monthly download limit on it.

My only real big complant is the noise floor of the broadcast makes it hard to hear you guys. keep up the good work. As coppa siad you going to need good equpiment to get it recored well. From a listeners point of view (i'm home theater and music hobbist) a hgih noise floor with a lot of feed back makes it almost impossible to here you cleary on dinky computer speakers, Its not the most pleasent task staraing to here you guys. I really like and I can't wait to see what you guys have in store. Also do you guys have monters (speakers) to listen to what you recorded. I may not be able to reccomend mics or mixers but speakers I can do.lol also karama when my hours are up for you both for all your hard work.

Thanks you both. Nandireya- Yeah, it's doing that for me too. It should work. I'll look into it. blindbandit- I'm going to look at the feedback and hopefully noise floor too this week. I hope to get that all sorted out. At this point, I don't even listen to the podcast after I've edited. It would take way too long and unless I have a lot of time that day I probably won't be able to do that.
