You're so lucky to have such talent in action-figure dismembering. =D ^ Lol, you majored in this, didn't you? So long as I don’t accidentally get any of the toxic plastic casting chemicals mixed into the Turkey dinner. Mmmmm… Yummy! Ew! Thanks for the progress report, though!

Thanks for all the compliments everyone!
Actually, I figuratively "minored." My major was video production but I had plenty of extra curricular hands on time with the industrial design/VFX makeup classes at the Art Institute I attended. In fact a guy I was friends with works for Hasbro now. But it's just a hobby for me.
Here's where things are going to get iffy. -At the moment these are personal works of fanart. If I start profiting on them I run a risk of getting sued by Mattel and Viacom if they find out and determine that I've prevented them from profiting on their rightful property.
That being said, the resin garage kit industry has operated for years on stuff like this but most of it is completely original sculpts and not partial re-casts like I'm doing. I'd have to think about it. Of course you probably should wait until I have something to show- They may look like junk and you wouldn't think it's very cool anyway. Plus the materials I use (alumilte resin) are strong but not at all flexable. If I gave a resin figure to my 6 year old cousin it wouldn't last two seconds before being snapped to bits. So what I'm making are more like "poseable display peices" than playworthy toys.
I've already talked with Jade (Musogato) about offering them as prizes for contests and she seems keen on the idea. Another way of working it could be that you could send me a purchased figure and I could customize it for you. So Mattel and Viacom don't lose out that way. ALSO! If Mattel makes their own Tea Shop Zuko, or anything else I'm doing for fun, you'd should consider yourself OBLIGATED (just like me) to buy that. Period. I don't want their product to fail.
So while I am flattered, please don't start placing orders or anything right now. That's a slippery slope we have to work out first.

These are awesome!! ;D I have 2 Sokka action figures because One i bought at the store because My eyes were glued to it and wouldn't let go of it then bought it. 2 days later I got sent a Sokka and Aang from Mattel. But that day at the store I bought spirit aang and sokka so im glad they didnt have airbending aang. I think I should send you my second figure of Sokka so you can customize him!
STILL CANT WAIT FOR KATARA & TOPH!!

It would be cool if when they released Toph & Katara they released and Earth Kingdom Aang figure.. Cuz they have an Air (his natural element), Water (first season allusion) now they should make Earth as well... I know I'd buy Katara, EK Aang, Toph, Tea Shop Zuko.. ANY!!!!! Keep us updated on if Zuko makes it or not.. lol

Okay, I'm not anywhere near finished (nor did I expect to be) but I've made some progress on the Prince's arm. First, let me whine and tell you it's been a nigtmare trying to make the joints functional. However they do work! The elbow pivots and the wrist rotates. Because we're working in hard cast resin and not soft rubber, I'll have to cast the lower arm in two halves like you see below and then glue them together with the wrist sandwiched in between during the final build up. The two halves together: The final cast peices will look prettier and I'll be hiding the lower arm seam with model putty of course. I'm still looking for ways to make the elbow pins work. for now I'm just sticking a length of wire through them. That might be a way to go. I've given it some thought. The truth is I can't do these totally for free. I mean I do love you guys and all, but it's just way too much work and time for there to be no returns. (Also understand that I could only do a small number of these, like 10 or so, before I go mad-it's hand painted after all) So here's a way this might work for everyone including Mattel: Making these will require the actual pvc plastic loopies from a Mattel figure.(I just can't replicate them- they're way to fragile in resin) So, let's say you want Tea Shop Zuko: You go out and buy a Zuko from the store (money to Mattel- yay!) and mail it to me with a payment that will help compensate me for supplies. Silicone and Resin don't grow on trees (well resin does... but not this kind of resin) and it's not cheap. I won't charge money for my labor. That would be gettig into that "iffy" zone we talked about. But what you can do instead is buy me a figure that's lacking from my collection or one that I'd like to chop up. That way more money is funneled to Mattel and Viacom, I get more toys, and you get a cool custom figure. Again though, let's wait until I have something solid finished first. Okay?

Sorry to be a little rube here, but if it took you that long just to make his arm, how long do you think it'll take you to do the rest?

...Or a factory. I can only do so much! I do have more done, I'm just showing you an arm right now 'cause it caused me so much grief and it posting it 'twas a way to relieve stress. I'm not going to show you the head and torso just yet. Fangirls might faint I want to try out some paint colors first. Not only that, but I discovered that the parts I'm using to assemble Zuko can be used as they are to very easily assemble another 'mystery' character! So I'll have two totally different figures when I'm done. I leave the mystery character a surprise for now but I will say that they, along with tea shop Zuko, are comprised of mostly recast Sokka parts. More to come later. Will keep you updated.
