“Tetsu, how long until we get picked up?” -“I have no idea. Calm down, Shinasha, it’s only been a few days.” “This town is driving me crazy…” A knock on the door interrupted the young woman. A slender man entered, with a bald head. A blue-gray arrow was clearly visible on his crown, and more on his arms and legs. “Master Tetsu” He said with a gentle voice, and bowed quickly. “I am here to escort you to the Temple. The Fire-nation woman is welcome to travel along – I assume she is an envoy?” Tetsu bowed too, and looked at Shinasha. -“No, an envoy she is not. I do not think any of those will be sent here when the western Temple is much closer.” “Then why is she here, master?” -“Lady Norinoko is here as my guest, Noko. She departed from the fire nation weeks before the declaration of war was out. She has chosen to follow her own path.” “I see…” -“Now, let’s pack up and go.” Tetsu grabbed his bag – he always seemed to have that ready – and headed for the door. Shinasha hesitated. “What about the Ostrich horse?” -“Don’t worry, I sold it to a stable keeper yesterday, when you were out shopping.” He tossed her a small pouch. “Here is the money.” “But…” She looked at the pouch, not sure whether to be angry or not. -“Well, it can’t come along on a flying bison, so this was the best option.” Shinasha shrugged. Tetsu was right. She grabbed her bow, quiver, and backpack, and headed after Tetsu and Noko.
Outside, she stood face-to-face with a flying bison for the first time in her life. The beast stood idly chewing on some hay, staring in the distance. It seemed calm and peaceful, but Shinasha was weary none-the less. Noko easily leapt onto the beast’s head, obviously using some sort of airbending technique to lift him. Tetsu did the same, although he used a more graceful maneuver, and landed in the saddle. “How do I…” -“Climb up the back, over its tail. It won’t mind.” Shinasha slowly turned to the backside of the beast. She hesitated for a second, and then resolutely ran up the tail of the bison. It stirred slightly, but Shinasha made it into the saddle quickly and safely. A quick command was spoken, and then the bison leapt into the sky… Shinasha clenched the edge of the saddle, and stayed as low as she could. “How long is this going to take…?!” She said, her voice trembling slightly. -“A few hours, if the winds favor us.” Was the calm reply from Tetsu. “Try to relax a little bit, and enjoy the flight. This is the best view of the world you will ever see.” Shinasha lifted her head over the edge of the saddle, and peeked down. The village was quickly fading in the distance, and below she saw large ships – some obviously warships – sailing by like little toy boats in a gigantic pool reflecting the sunlight in many tiny ripples. Awestruck, she sat upright, still clutching the saddle. Amazed by how tiny everything looked, she kept staring down and in all directions, until, when the sun was already drowning in the ocean in the west, she could make out the peaks of the nomad lands, and the first spires of the eastern air temple…

While the flame-cicles were flying toward Riko, she said, We'll see about that!, and dodged them by bending backwards. Nokoro was disappointed that she dodged it that way because that let her find out about the surprise attack that he secretly created. But then, he thought of a trap that she couldn't avoid getting into...
So, she saw the wave behind her and said, Wow, you're pretty good. Quick reflexes, and if only you were Fire Nation I'd actually say you were pretty cute but you're no match for me. He felt like he was going to throw up!
Thanks for the compliment, but no thanks! And I don't think I'm the person who's going to be outmatched!, Nokoro said with sick disgust and inextinguishable determination at the same time. He watched her with amusement as she was thinking of what move would stop the wave.
There's no firebending move she could use that would stop the wave from getting her at least partially wet! And when she gets wet, there will be nothing that could save her from my trap!, Nokoro thought to himself as he smiled with a victorious expression. He was overwhelmingly confident that his clever trap would work.
Time to learn to slice water boy, Fire Nation style! Ha!, she said as she shot a long stream of fire from her fist and cut the wave in half. But the top part of the wave still got both of them wet. Even though Nokoro didn't expect that he would get wet, he wasn't surprised or threatened by what happened because just as he thought, she got wet and became completely vulnerable to his next move.
Beat that waterbender., Riko said with a chuckle.
He didn't really care about her simple comeback, but he couldn't help saying, Easily! But first, guess what? Do you remember those flames that turned into ice? Well, you're about to have a lot in common with them!, as he waterbended all the water from the wave off his body.
Nokoro used his waterbending to turn all the water from the wave that was on the girl's body into ice! This gave him the perfect opportunity to focus and do a powerful waterbending move that he had been practicing recently. He closed his eyes for a moment and focused his chi. Then, he waterbended a large amount of snow around her into water, started shaping the water into a sphere, and trapped her in the sphere by freezing the water into a thick coat of ice! But he wasn't done yet! After regaining energy, he created a second ice sphere around the first one that had an even thicker coat of ice!
Beat that, fire girl! Oh wait. You can't because you're trapped in three layers of ice![/color], he screamed with infinitely shining pride as a nonchalant expression took over his face and the North Pole citizens cheered with pure amazement. He watched the sun slowly set into the horizon.

Riko was soaked, Nokoro was soaked. She thought he wouldn’t continue the battle after that but of how wrong she was. In an instant she felt the water on her turn to ice. Smirking to herself she started to melt the ice now encasing her but then something happened that she hadn’t expected. He continued his assault and started making a sphere of ice over her.
“What are you…?”
It was the only thing Riko managed to blurt out with a shocked expression on her face as he continued making another sphere around her. She was getting angry. How dare he do this! Then it all came back to her like the layer of ice she was encased in.
“I’ve disgraced myself…how could I look over such a glaring mistake?”
She frowned wondering why she hadn’t dried her clothes when there was so much time to do so! Uh, she was going to have to learn not to look down on the other bending nation’s skills and cleverness. Thankfully the fire in her was keeping her warm or she could’ve died of frost bite. It was also getting quite hard to breathe in those spheres so with a deep breath Riko gave a defeated yell and the ice around her body melted away.
Walking to the ice sphere’s left wall she laid her hand on it and managed to make a whole big enough for her hand to shoot another hot flame to the next layer of ice. After three minutes there was a hole big enough for the air to pass through. Walking once again to her original position she folded her arms and stared at the tribe cheering with victorious glee but a glare was etched on her face at the Waterbending Warrior as she murmured to herself.
“I’ll let them have their fun. But we’ll see who’ll be laughing when the Fire Nation conquers you.”
That said, she couldn't help but just stare at them all. It disgusted her that they were so happy, it disgusted her that she was so easily beaten, but what was worse of all. It disgusted her that her element, fire...had fallen to the power of flowing water.

Maiku watched as Aoi shot her second arrow. He saw that she had loosened her grip on the arrow. "She'll definitely hit the inner ring now," Maiku thought to himself. It hit the inner ring. "Nice shot,"Maiku said. Aoi said, "Thanks for the advice.
Aoi went to retrieve the arrows. As she approached him she handed him his arrow. Then she said, "so are you a firebender." "Yes, I am," Maiku replied.
Maiku wondered why she asked, but then realized that she was probably just curious.
"Why do you ask," Maiku inquired.

The sun was shrouded by a cluster of dark clouds that threatened a thunderstorm, and in the distance, lightning illuminated the shadowy Firmament, followed by a clap of thunder that resonated throughout the Heavens.

Lee was awoken by what sounded like a rockslide. He jerked upright in his sleeping bag, looking left and right, hand reaching for the dagger on his belt and wishing he had left his bow by his side last night. But he stopped when he realized it was just his sister, Jing, practicing her Earthbending moves a few hundred feet away. Lee sighed and relaxed, replacing the knife in its sheath, and disentangling himself from the fold of fabric that he had been sleeping in.
As Lee rolled up his sleeping bag, he turned to see his best friend, Moko, reading the map the three had been following since leaving their home village of Qing. By now, news of the war the Fire nation had started had spread to all corners of the Earth Kingdom, and Jing had wanted to offer her abilities as an Earthbender to the Army. Lee had been reluctant to take her, he was perfectly content living in Qing, but she had managed to convince him. Along the way, Lee had come to the realization that the Fire Nation had invaded the other nations without any sort of rhyme or reason, and this had changed Lee's opinion of actually fighting in the war. When they reached Omashu, there to find a Master to train Jing, Lee and Moko were going to enlist as foot soldiers in the Army.
Moko sighed in exasperation, folding up the map. "Well, we're still a good three days journey from Omashu, and we don't even have enough food to get us through today."
Lee frowned. "Sorry, the game has been slim around here. I can't help that." It was Lee's job, as the archery "expert" of their little group, to hunt.
Moko waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry, I wasn't blaming you. It's just, we have to find somewhere to get supplies, or we won't make it to Omashu. Not to mention the fact that I've heard rumors of towns around here being taken over by Fire Nation armies and colonized by Fire Nation citizens. We have to be careful."
Lee motioned for Moko to let him see the map. "Look, here," Lee pinted at a small dot a few miles from their postion. "It's a village. We can make it by midday if we hurry."
Moko shrugged. "Okay, but you better hope the Fire Nation hasn't gotten to that place, too."
Lee grinned at his friend. "C'mon, Moko, we're twenty miles from the coast. How could the Fire Nation have penetrated this far inland yet?"
Lee called his sister, who came running over. "Jing, give us a hand breaking camp. We're making for a town a few miles to the south."
Jing nodded. "Sure, but first, check this out!" She made a short hop and slammed her feet into the ground, raising her arms simutaneously. A huge spear of rock, at least twelve feet high, shot out of the ground in front of her. Jing stepped back to admire her handiwork. "Check that out."
Lee smiled. His sister was always trying to show off her Earthbending, though it only worked about half the time. "That's great, sis, really, but we gotta move."
It no time, they had packed up camp and set off quickly down the road.

Many claps of thunder followed them as the two walked indoors, it was as though it was ushering them in, Maiku had got an ominous feeling as though he was being watched. Little did he know, he was. ____________________________________________________ hope you like it, I left it on a cliffhanger for the next person. Water Warrior Please delete that. Nokoro was inexpressibly pleased with the fact that he actually defeated a firebender with his waterbending skills. But, his conscience kept bothering him by telling him that it wasn't right to keep the Fire Nation girl trapped in the ice spheres, even if he doesn't even know her, because she might die from frostbite and lack of air. Then, he noticed that there was a hole in the ice sphere. He guessed that the girl made it with her firebending heat. But, she could still die from the excruciatingly cold temperature. And even though she is a firebender and is able to keep herself warm, the sun had almost disappeared completely and firebenders are weaker during the night.
I guess it was mostly my fault that we started fighting because I went into a fighting stance first., Nokoro pondered as he reconsidered if the girl was really a spy or not, Maybe she wouldn't have attacked me and would've become my ally or something if I didn't make it seem like I wanted to fight.
He finally decided that he would let her out of the ice spheres when he knew that she wouldn't dare fight him because waterbenders are stronger and firebenders are weaker at night and they were in the North Pole. Plus, it was a full moon tonight and waterbenders are strongest during a full moon.
So, after everyone left, even though he knew that she would probably be ferociously mad at him, he freed her by using his waterbending to turn all the ice around her into water and said, I don't want to fight you and I suggest that you don't fight me because we're in the North Pole at night, during a full moon. So, I have the advantage. I want you to know that I didn't want to fight you, but I thought you were going to attack me when I saw you, so I got ready to fight just in case.
Nokoro felt like he did the right thing, but at the same time, his body was shaking with fear.

“Fine.”
She was still mad at him of course but she decided it was better having someone partially befriend her than to have nobody in the whole Northern Water Tribe. Of course she still wasn’t going to trust him. It was completion of the mission first after all. Taking in a sigh of annoyance she held out her hand.
“I’m Riko and you are?”

Lan Shen stared out of her bedroom window, her eyes locked on the new models of the Fire Nation ships leaving port. The smoke they emitted made her sick, everyday the beautiful sky she always looked up to became darker and darker. Not only did the ships send off smoke, but they also sent of dear loved ones. Her father was unfortunately was one of those people, it's only been a month since the horrible war began. "I hate this so much...I can't just sit and here and do nothing...once I'm a master I'm going to..."" "...and never forget to always crescendo on the fifteenth measure...Lan Shen!"
The young girl of 15 broke her train her thought, and quickly spun around, almost smashing her pipa.
"Lan Shen! How many times have I told you, do you want to be a professional musicain or what?!", Lanyi exclaimed.
"I'm sorry mom, it's just..." her gaze returned to the fire nation ships.
Lanyi's eyes softened, "I know...I'm just as upset as you are. You're father just felt he needed to defend our country, it's quite noble of him." Her voice began waivering. "Anyway, let's just begin on measure 14, ok?"
"Fine, but I'm going to the Firebending Dojo for girls tomorrow instead of you lesson. I need to practice my firebending much more, I'm not exactly at the same level with the other girls.", she said.
"Fine." Lanyi said coldly. She didn't like the fact of her daughter becoming a warrior, she didn't want Lan Shen to get hurt in any way. Lanyi raised her pipa in the playing position, and Lan Shen did the same. They counted to three, and began to create the beautiful melody.

After Nokoro tried to explain his actions to the Fire Nation girl, she said, Fine.
He knew that she still didn't trust him and that she was still mad at him because of the expression on her face and the tone of her voice. But, he didn't really mind because he still didn't trust her either.
Well, at least she isn't throwing fireballs at me or anything!, Nokoro thought with relief.
I'm Riko and you are?, she asked and held out her hand.
I'm Nokoro Harima. I'm one of the waterbending warrior trainees at the Northern Water Tribe Training Camp. You have great firebending skills. Where did you learn them from? Sorry if I'm being too nosy, but how do you feel about the war?, he asked as he shook her hand. He was careful not to say anything that would cause her to get angry.
She's mad enough as it is!, he thought to himself while he waited for Riko to answer his questions. This was the first Fire Nation citizen he had ever met. He was looking forward to having a good relationship with her, but just in case, he didn't let his guard down.

“Well, nice to meet you Nokoro.”
Riko’s anger was slowly ebbing away and turning into one of annoyance when he started asking questions like she had killed someone or something.
“Anyway, I learned my Firebending skills from my family. I don’t mind you being nosy but could you leave the tone that I’ve killed someone cause I’m Fire Nation away next time?”
Nokoro was obviously taken aback from her retort but didn’t say anything so she continued.
“Personally, I think the war is useless. Of course, if I were to say that while in the Fire Nation I’d be beheaded by the Fire Lord himself.”

After Nokoro and Riko shook hands, Riko said, Well, nice to meet you Nokoro.
Then, he unexpectedly realized that his tone and questions had annoyed her.
He blushed with utter embarrassment as she said, Anyway, I learned my Firebending skills from my family. I don't mind you being nosy but could you leave the tone that I've killed someone cause I'm Fire Nation away next time?
While Nokoro speechlessly wondered how he could have possibly used that judgmental tone with her, she answered his other question when she said, Personally, I think the war is useless. Of course, if I were to say that while in the Fire Nation I'd be beheaded by the Fire Lord himself.
After finally overcoming his shameful mistake, he said, I apologize for my instinctive stereotype about all Fire Nation citizens, Riko. It's just that, ever since the war started, everyone started believing that all citizens of the Fire Nation are evil, which is obviously not true. But still, it's like right when the war started, it was automatically written in everyone's brain that the entire Fire Nation is malevolent. I promise that I won't make that judgmental mistake again.
While Nokoro waited for Riko to reply, he tried his best to completely erase the humiliating stereotype from his mind and to always remember that not all Fire Nation citizens are malicious.

Maiku said "Ah, I see," she answered, nodding, before it began to rain heavily. She laughed as he said that. Her hair was almost completely wet, and her clothes were heavier and dripping with rain. "Little too late though, huh? Besides, you better get back to your tent too."
