Hi, this is a fic that I wrote recently. I hope you like it!
Setting: Five years after the war ended. Zuko, now Fire Lord, is engaged to Mai.
Zuko truged through the snow and ice. He was wishing that he had not ventured to the Southern Water Tribe, but he had to know the answer to the question that had been burning inside of him since he was in the Crystal Catacombs of Ba Sing Se five years ago...a question so important, that because of it, Zuko had postponed his marriage to Mai another week.
He knew who he was looking for. A girl who would be about nineteen, and who had striking blue eyes. He looked about ten feet ahead, and saw a girl bending water with a boy with tatoos on his arm. He approached them slowly. "Katara," he breathed out, "I need to talk to you."
Katara was in shock. "Zuko, is that really you?" she asked, although she already knew the answer, "How have you been?"
"I've been fine," Zuko replied. He paused. "Katara, there's a question that I have been wanting to ask you for a while now."
With that, Zuko leaned forward and kissed her passionately on the lips. Katara was shocked and confused, but not as much as the boy next to her, who happened to be her husband.
Aang was confused and slightly angry. "What do you think you're doing Zuko?" he asked.
"I just had to know..." Zuko paused again, "Was there ever anything at all between us?" Zuko asked.
Katara only thought for a moment. Standing before her was a boy she had connected with once, a boy who was now the Fire Lord. She thought about the time they had spent together. Katara looked up into Zuko's fire red eyes.
"No." she replied..."Nothing at all."
