Forever Trying
He didn't understand. No matter how hard he tried, things always turned out for the worst. Usually things would get better after trying even harder at something though. Usually. He couldn't see how things could possibly get any better. Everything had taken a turn for the worse.
He failed. Countless people would suffer, and it was all his fault. If only he had chosen differently. What would have happened then? Would things be better, or would they be even worse, if that was even possible? When he tried to decide if he had made the right choice, his thoughts were jumbled up and confusing. He just tried to lie back on the grassy hilltop and relax, but he failed at that too.
One thing was for sure. The war had changed him. He was no longer a naïve little boy, but an individual with too much responsibility. His decisions had changed the world, and would continue to do so. As much as he tried, there was no escaping that.
Giving up wasn't an option either. He would always have to try. Trying was something he had always done. He was determined or stubborn, whatever it was. He just needed to figure out what he was even trying to accomplish in the first place.
Someone had always been there for him. Now, he wasn't even sure on that. Had he just given up the person he loved most in the world? For what, his destiny? He had no idea what his destiny even was. Everyone kept pressuring him to do what they wanted. What did he want?
He just sat silently on the hill. He was alone to drown on his thoughts. No one was there to tell their opinion or influence him. No one was there to pressure him into even more harmful decisions. He was alone with no one there to guide him.
He thought he had lost all hope. He thought it had all disappeared after making his choice, his final decision. He didn't think hope would ever return to him, bleak as he was. Then, he saw a gleam on the horizon. The sun was rising. It was the beginning of a new day, a new chance.
A/N: I hoped you liked it. I wrote this so it could be told from the POV from two different characters.
