I'm just linking this article from straightdope.com regarding male pattern baldness in case any of you guys who eventually go bald are inclined to blame your moms. Apparently the study that decided it was mom's fault is from 1916 or some such and has since been debunked. Not that the medical establishment or the news media has quite caught up, but it's true. You can also blame your dads!!!! www.straightdope.com/columns/050819.htmlI would love one of the many artists who support Avatar on deviantart.com to show us a mpb future Zuko. Hee hee. I get the giggles just thinking about it. Well, if that's the case then I doubt Zuko would go bald, because Ozai is already in his 40s and his hair is still as luscious as ever.

My uncle is going bald rapidly while his brother and his father are not. However it's possible that Iroh's hair loss is due in large part to extreme stress (being a general during wartime, losing his wife at some point and then also his son, losing his birthright, banishment with his nephew who simply isn't listening) along with an unbalanced diet. I don't know if there's any research to prove those things cause mpb, but Iroh definitely hasn't always taken care of himself...until now. vavoom. BTW: Azulon had all his hair. I'll have to look up Sozin again but I think he had a full head of hair as well. So this might be one of the cases where Iroh's poor mother can indeed be blamed for his lack of follicle success. And this has nothing to do with the episode so I'll stop now.

Yeah Azulon did have a full head of hair, so did Sozin, so Iroh must have inherited the baldness on Ilah's side then.

I did like the episode. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
However, I did find the technology a big questionable. I mean, was I the only one that found it odd that a society has harnessed the power of submarines and giant, metal air crafts before even cultivating electricity as an actual source of energy? (not just for bending)

In the episode..
Bato: "The youngest of our group should go with you."
translation..
"The youngest of our group should go with you, so that they'll have more screentime. And since its a childern's show, the audience likes the young ones better. And since they already have been seen in previous seasons, it'll make the show more interesting and in the process, boost the ratings of Avatar"!

well first of we know aang and the gang weren't going to stay....it just now they add more members....I don't this has anything to do with ratings and it core audience...people are still going to watch...that if they don't do something crazy during the wating period.
what I like about this next half is that there what about five storylines in one sitting...Iroh, Zuko, the gang expanded, fire nation and it royals.

Or maybe he said that because they didn't want the children to be imprisoned and most likely tortured for information? Nah, that couldn't have crossed his mind. Yeah, it was mildly puzzling to me. And despite the fact that fans can explain it away if they're bothered to, it still itches me the wrong way. I still enjoyed the episode, though.

ya what was with the tanks that can crawl like catterpillars and fire big guns and yet they can't even discover a light bulb XD
still, it doesn't ruin the ownage-ness of the show

Well, for all we know the Fire Nation could have coal fired power plants generating electricity, as it appears that they have massive weapon production lines. So I don't think some form of electricity is out of the question.
After all, their ships are powered by coal fired generators, as was the Drill.
The Blimps are easy to explain really. A Blimp really is nothing more than a large hot air balloon. The airbag is most likely filled with a readably available gas that allows it to lift. The size of the airbag also determines the amount of extras you can attach to it.
The actual bulk of the Airship (ie the airbag) appears to be nothing more than the fabric layer similar to post-ww1 era airships. The actual cockpit and bomb bays are all one structure underneath the airbag and it really isn't that big. As the the metal on the Airship, I'd say that seeing as the Fire Nation has a grasp on metal construction that they've also created Aluminum. If so, that would explain the large dragon face on the Airship and how it wouldn't weigh the contraption down.
It would most likely be powered by either stream, coal or some form of Fire Bending. because we don't actually see much of the inside of the Airship, I can't confirm this.

Mostly every technological machinery in this show is powered by bending. Scientist in the Fire Nation probably work hard on making everything work with fire bending instead of some other ways of making fuel or power.
Fire bending powers the airships, blimps, and the balloons. Now what I just want to know is, will the Firelord quickly send a squadron up north to attack the Northern Water Tribe again? With that advance technology, the water tribe will be exist. Since they cannot escape behind them due to the harsh arctic, or they cannot escape in a full on assault.
The Northern Water Tribe is here by doomed to extinction!

Well, he's got to get those Airships to the North Pole first. Which could take weeks to months, and while the Northern Water tribe does defy him, they do not actively engage his forces (from what we know), so it's more; do you risk sending you new weapons against an enemy that isn't doing anything to you at this present time? Or do you use these new weapons are weapons of terror to solidify your rule over your recently captured provinces?
I would see these Airships being used more or less as weapons of terror rather than a weapon like a tank. I doubt they'll hope a lot of munitions and would only have a limited range, where as if you station on or two around say Ba Sing Sa, you could show the people that your there all the time.
