What this thread is, it's monologues from some OCs I've created for Avatar and D&D and other shows and games about various things. Each monologue is written in script format, that being the setting given first, then the character's lines, with whatever actions they are to be taking and how they are to be saying their lines. My first three monologues are for three of my D&D characters, Amerigo Sebastian "Shadowheart" Keeler III, Jerlys Baenre, and Serenity Nailo, and their reactions to a war that occurred 600 years ago and claimed the lives of friends and loved ones of theirs. Note: Because each character's monologue is of a different length than the others, I'll only be posting one monologue a night.
Setting: Large chapel-like room with a grand pipe organ dominating the eastern wall. Standing in the center of the room is a tall, skeletally thin man, with wispy grey hair. His face is naught but a skull, with fiery red dots where eyes should be.
Amerigo: (Quietly) 600 years it has been. 600 years since that awful war and the deaths of our former comrades. 600 years since I started this annual tradition of reciting their names and deeds. (In full voice) Garr Talonsback. Slew a dragon, indeed, a Great Wyrm Red Dragon, no small feat by any means, by himself. Illiamynrae Elisiryn. A more stealthy rogue, one may never find. Lera Orasev. She knew little of the world outside the monastery she was raised at, yet despite this, worked tirelessly to promote peace not only between warring nations, but also between warring races. Ricard Keppler. Despite his blindness, he was a skilled fighter with peerless physical strength. And this last name pains me to no end... (voice trails off. Silent for many moments.) Diana Nailo, my youngest granddaughter. A kind-hearted young woman, though very shy, and a skilled tracker. She was also one of my most promising apprentices. (Quietly) How many tears I would have shed for them all, had I still tear ducts to shed them with. How many nights I would have lay awake and mourn their passage, had I still the need to sleep. Alas, in my undeath, I have not the means to shed tears nor have I the need to sleep. Their deaths weigh as heavily on my shoulders, even after half a millennium, as any other still alive who knew them then. (In full voice) In life, all were people of exceptional caliber and I am proud to say that I knew them. (Exuent)

Wow. The whole thing was deep but I thought this part was the deepest. Like I could imagine clearly how this affected her and how much she grieved. Great job!

Wow. The whole thing was deep but I thought this part was the deepest. Like I could imagine clearly how this affected her and how much she grieved. Great job! Uhm... Amerigo is a guy. A 400 year old male undead spellcaster. Well, that's in the game. In his monologue, he's 1000 years old. Monologue II: Jerlys Baenre Setting: Small, well funished, beautifully decorated bedroom. A person slightly shorter than the average elf sits in a high-backed chair. A fire in the fireplace adds light and warmth to the room, while a lamp on the table adds further illumination. The person is dressed in a gorgeous white dress, offering a stark contrast to her pitch black skin. Jerlys: (Closes a book containing pictures of familiar faces.) Thank Eilistraee, Azuth, Corellon, and any other god who'd care to take credit that I still have Master Amerigo and Serenity. I wept such bitter tears when Garr and the others died. If not for this book, I wouldn't remember how they looked. I don't know what I'd have done if everyone had died and only I remained. I miss them all, and Master could have brought them all back, yet we all pledged we would not like that. It would only bring more grief than joy. (Sighs heavily.) (Fade to black.)

The purpose for doing three monologues then describing them is just to show how it'll be working. But yeah, I was thinking about describing my OCs, but I thought it more important to show how it'll work first.

Alas! the dreaded double post!
Monologue III: Serenity Nailo
Setting: A dark bedroom, lit solely by a fire in the fireplace. A woman sits on her knees on the floor, her face buried in her hands. The woman seems to be young and beautiful, but is actually 633 years old. She is possessed of an unearthly beauty, both Vampiric and Elven.
Serenity: (Long minutes of uncontrolled sobbing.) (Lowers hands to lap, looks up.) Why, Diana, my baby sister? Why did you have to die? I promised Mother and Grandpa both I would protect you, yet still, I let you die. (Closes eyes, lowers head.) I tried. I tried to protect them all. Garr, Lera, Illia, Ricard. I'm so sorry. If only I had been stronger then, you would all have lived a lot longer. (Voice begins to trail off.) ...I'm so... sorry... (Begins sobbing uncontrollably again.) (Several long minutes of uncontrolled sobbing.) (Lifts head, raises hands above head.) (Yelling.) Corellon, forgive me! I tried everything in my power to protect them all! (Quietly.) If anyone deserves to be dead at this time, it's me. (Fade to black.)
And that's it for the first round of monologues. Now that you see how it works, I'll post profiles for the first three characters tomorrow night.

Review about Jerlys: That was really good. I totally get what he means at the end about bringing them back would only bring more grief than joy. Tsubasa Chronicle Reservoir had a theme like that in one of their anime (maybe manga too, I dunno) episodes. ^Wow. It wasn't depressing but it was definitely emotional still. I could see myself feeling that way if my brother had died.

It's becoming a bad habit, I know, but only in places where people don't really care that double posting occurs. Still, it's sort of hypocritical of me to tell others not to do it, when I, myself, do it, albeit only in my creations threads. Still, double posting is double posting. Anywho...
Now that everyone knows how my Monologues thread works, I'll begin posting character descriptions with each. Rather than editing my three previous posts to include the profiles of each character, I'll just post it here. Less work that way.
Amerigo Sebastian "Shadowheart" Keeler III - As far as liches and Necromancers go, he's an odd one on both counts. Rather than ordering the corpses he animates to do nefarious deeds, he has them guard the weak and serve as scouts for danger ahead. And rather than using his powers for evil, he instead uses them, and his eternal unlife, to help people and solve their mysteries as the leader of the Shadowheart Detective Agency. No one knows exactly how old he is, however, he admits to being at least 400 years old and having ascended to lichdom at 80, after nearly twenty years of forgetting and remembering again to finish his phylactery. Already a master of Necromancy and adept at other schools of magic, namely Transmutation, Divination, Enchantment, and Abjuration, at the age of 35, he lost his right hand in a poorly executed battle with a large Drow raiding party, so he grafted a skeleton hand in place and dedicated a long period of time to learning the path of the warrior, using his new hand as a weapon, before returning to the path of the mage. Note: In my game, he's 400 years old. In his monologue, he's 1000 years old.
Jerlys Baenre - Daughter of Quenthel Baenre of House Baenre, first house of the Drow city of Menzoberranzan, and Amerigo's apprentice, assistant, and adopted daughter. A common soldier kidnapped her when she was very young, trying to use her as a living shield until he made it to the surface world, where he intended to kill her and start a new life plundering surface Elven communities at will, yet the warrior encountered a major snare in his plan: Amerigo, on a mission relatively near the surface, but still very well into the Underdark. The lich killed the soldier without much effort when the soldier attacked first and he took the frightened child under his wing. After a few days, the search party that had been sent after the warrior and the child caught up to the lich and demanded he turn her over to them. Rather than put up a fight to defend the child, he turned custody of the girl over to the party, as demanded. Something must have touched a nerve in his long unbeating heart when she protested every step of the way, crying, "Master, no! Please, Master, I want to go with you!" for a few days later, the lich stormed Menzoberranzan, a massive force of undead Dragons, Bugbears, Ogres, and Owlbears under his control completely eliminating lesser houses of the city and decimating the forces of the ruling houses until he finally came upon the Baenre complex. After a raid that lasted less than a day, the child was reunited with the lich, who took her to the surface and raised her as one of his own children, teaching her magic and educating her in human manners and customs. She loves Amerigo as many human children love their parents and would do anything to see his goals accomplished. Note: In my game, she's 170. In her monologue, she's 770.
Serenity Nailo - Eldest granddaughter of Amerigo in many ages, the eldest daughter of Amerigo's youngest son and an Elven woman. Of Amerigo's four children, his youngest son, Davido, had always been a trouble maker, in constant minor trouble with the local authorities on a very regular basis. One night after the man's thirty-fourth birthday, he was attacked by a Vampiress who, rather than kill him and consume all his blood, decided to make him a Vampire instead. Davido would not have servitude unto another, so he killed the Vampiress at the first opportunity he had, and fled. Unable to deny his undeath, he preyed on many a mortal for nealy 300 years, until one night, in a frenzy brought on by a lack of blood, he had consumed very little in three months, he massacred an Elven village, killing every man, woman, and child and drinking their blood. One woman escaped his wrath, this one instead the victim of a horrible rape. Nine months later, a child was born and given the name Serenity. Several years passed, the child oblivious of her Vampiric ancestry all the while. Amerigo found the Elven woman, named Antinua, and her child after many months of searching after learning that one of his bloodline still drew breath, the rest dead due to disease, age, and war over the near 360 years since Davido had been born. The Elven woman believed the lich and tried to force guardianship of the child upon him for a while, but after a time, decided against it, her maternal instincts telling her to keep the child and allow Amerigo to visit on a regular basis. Note: In my game, she's 33. In her monologue, she's 633.

Indeed, but at the same time, it IS hypocritical of me to tell others not to do it when I do it myself. That much, you cannot deny. I'm not kicking my own arse about it, but still, a double post is a double post.

Got a new monologue here. It's from an old character of mine I used to RP at a site that no longer exists.
Gideon L. Morgan - Gideon is the sort of man people don't have much to do with unless they absolutely have to, not because he's unattractive or he has poor personal hygeine, to the contrary, he's actually quite handsome and is always of exceptional appearance. People don't like him because he's greedy, violent, and moody, among other things. Gideon isn't human, but rather of a race of beings that was once human, but sacrificed their souls and some of their life force for power. It's impossible for them to die of old age or disease, but war can lay them low. If they are weakened and battered on the battlefield, they must regenerate in special places containing the life force they sacrificed to gain the power, or lose their bodies completely, though their consciousness will remain in the place at which they were slain.
Setting: A large bedroom in a mansion atop a hill in a dark, grim, and unhappy realm. The room contains a bed and a casket. The lights in the chandelier on the ceiling light the room, and a fire roars in the fireplace, warming the room.
Gideon: (Laying down into the casket.) Blast! That last fight took more out of me than I had anticipared it would! (Deep sigh as he closes the lid.) I can't believe there's still so many of those... things out there, even in this day and age. Blast. I must have killed a hundred of them today, yet their numbers do not seem to have thinned at all. They're an abomination, and they need to be eliminated before they overrun good, civilized folk. Filthy vermin! How much will you take and destroy before you are satisfied? (Fade to black.)

A new monologue. And you may recognize the name.
Ricard Keppler - Born blind but by no means helpless, the man known only as Ricard for the better part of 35 years before finally claiming his birthright as the successor to the Keppler clan of warriors, has been known to fight with either a Greatsword or his bare hands. A man of no small physical strength, Ricard has been know to lift anything from adult horses to small houses without much effort. Blind since birth, he used his other abilites, to hear, to smell, to taste, and to feel, to navigate the battlefield and cut down foes and aid allies. He once had a Dragon in human form as a lover. They had several children together, but as all Dragons who choose to live among humans, she had to leave her family, leaving Ricard alone to care for his 6 children.
Setting: Pre-dawn battlefield. A few small camp fires still burn, several of the leaders of both sides have risen early to go over final plans and preparations.
Ricard: (Staring out into the darknes that is all he is capable of seeing.) Why must it always come to war? People argue over boundaries and resources, but it could be considered talking. So, why must it come to war? I've been fighting for well over half my life, and few times have I ever been so miserable than after a battle in a war. It is a horrible thing that crowns champions and brands villains of the same people on either side. It victimizes innocents and robs them of their most basic of rights. The right to live, the right to be happy, the right to love. (Silent for several minutes.) Do I regret fighting for as long as I have or participating in war? (Places hand on top of a slender female hand, knowing full well whose hand it is.) No, I suppose I don't. Not the killing, at least, of those who truly deserve it. But it is the innocent casualties that strike me harder than any blow. I suppose all I can do is fight my hardest to ensure that the people I stand across the field from do not enter the city, or whereever it is I make my stand, and bring harm to the civilians, then, after the battle, do my best to aid in the recovery effort. (Fade to black.)

Cool characters! Richard Keppler reminds me of Toph being blind, strong, and definitely not helpless. It's not Richard! It's Ricard! There IS a difference! And I kinda based him on Toph without actually doing so. I wanted a character with some sort of disability, I narrowed it down to deaf or blind, but actually have it be an advantage, possibly more than Toph, because unlike her, who uses her Earthbending to "see", there is no Earthbending in D&D, and therefore no way for Ricard to see without the aid of a Cleric using their Divine magic to give him sight. And for the record, because he was born blind, all the Clerics and Saints in the world combined could do something for him, but he chose not to have sight.
