Sorry I just couldn't wait/bug someone to post a comment on my old thread. I just had to show you guys some of the new stuff I've made over the last few months. I'll try to limit the anecdotes.
First off, my "Way of Kami" Earrings.
Made these during a time that I was forbidden to "dawdle" (i.e., crafting): a.k.a, I had to study hardcore for an Asian art exam. But, alas, I'm a naughty girl and I evidently broke my vow. But as long as I was breaking rules, I decided to do a project related to my studying, and could possibly help. So I made this earrings out of polymer clay that depict torii, a symbol of Shintoism.
(Pst! I passed the exam just so ya know. )
My first stab at stenciling on fabric.
The stencils say Peace, Eternity, Energy and Love. I bought the smaller stencils, but I made the larger one to the right.
My new messenger purse.
So yeah. Sadly, my favorite corduroy messenger purse is almost officially retired, and I don't have the heart to cut him up in order to reconstruct him, so I decided to make a replacement bag. Took me a whole weekend of no studyin.... But it was worth it of course. I made the stencil myself. It means "dream." Has nifty pockets in the front, back and inside. I'll have to be honest when I say it's not completely complete, because I plan on putting some floral-ish stencils around the khaki parts to make it less blah and blank, but I suddenly decided to go on a budget before I could buy the stencil. But eh. I'll do it later.
Pretty pretty flowers in winter.
I just made this yesterday.... Pretty much did the same thing that I did with the red and black one. Cept I got done faster cuz I used my sewing machine.
Just a note on both shawls, they were inspired by Tomoe Yukishiro's (From none other than Rurouni Kenshin) shawl. I just loved how long and pretty hers was.
Take out anyone?
So this was originally a trial, cuz I plan on making this for my friends as gift boxes for the upcoming holiday season. I planned on putting fabric on the flaps, but it didn't work out so I had to cut the flaps off. Oh well. It's still cute.
They ain't kanzashi, but I still think it's awesome.
I made this before I learned how to make kanzashi (little fabric flower hair ornaments worn by geisha or any girl on a special occasion). They still look purty though.
I think you guys already know that these aren't the only things that I've managed to make during the past three months, but I'm gonna spare some of a lot of time by just showin this stuff for now.
All of my other crap is on my DA page.
Acknowledgements:
I'd like to thank my sewing machine for not acting like an @$$ like it was earlier this year, and my brother for actually keeping his word by taking me to Wal-Mart and Michael's and Jo-Ann Fabrics all those days he was vexed.
That's all.
