Now this may sound like blasphemy, but if there was ever a reboot of the Star Wars original trilogy. In such fashion of Star Trek XI. Who could portray the original characters well enough to that of the original actors? Looks and acting skills. This may also include Thrawn trilogy characters as well if these books were ever going to get film adaptions. Since it is most likely the characters are going to be recasts.

Star Trek (the J.J. Abrams picture) isn't what I'd call a "reboot." Batman Begins is a reboot, divorcing itself from the series that Tim Burton established. The new Star Trek is a prequel to the '60s TV series. It does nothing to restart the canon as it exists.
Anyway, to answer your supposition, but there's no way they're going to touch the Skywalker saga again for a live-action film. If they do make another movie with established characters, they'll go the same route they did with The Clone Wars and make it animated. If they did recast existing characters for a live-action Star Wars, it would be like making a Dirty Harry movie and not having Clint Eastwood (excepting young Dirty Harry, that's pretty wide open). The only reason why reboots of other franchises is working is because the series had become a joke (see the aforementioned Batman and Friday the 13th) or because the audiences have evolved to the point where it isn't as effective as it once was (see The Hills Have Eyes or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
The great advantage that the Star Wars franchise has is that it is a big galaxy far, far away. Any project that they choose to make does not have to revolve around the Skywalkers. It would be interesting to see things like the Mandalorian Wars or the infighting among the Sith. If we were to see Thrawn, I think that Andy Garcia would probably best capture the look once you add the blue skin and red eyes and we know he's capable of being a strong, ruthless villain (see The Godfather Part III or Ocean's Eleven).

You still avoided the main question here good sir. Rather or not they are going to isn't the case on trail, but who or what actors would be suitable for the parts. Also the new Star Trek is pretty much a new timeline running along side the original timeline.
